Best detergent and softner

I just purchased a 2100XC spledide and I was wandering if anyone can tell me what is the best detergent and softener to use in this machine or what ideas anyone would have?

Tawna, I have to tell you that my dw uses the same as she uses in the house. We have a couple smaller containers and she puts some detergent in it and I think the softener is Snuggle's.
Nothing different except you can't use the softener sheets unless you stop the cycle before it starts drying, Patti never does that!
There will also be some literature in the instructions recommending detergents too.

We use a concentrated triple strength liquid HE detergent. Comes in a small bottle and only needs a little (Tbs or less) depending on load.

Remember that front loaders require less soap for the same cleaning action. A little goes a long way. Your book should tell you how much.

We use the same as we use in the stick house.

My wife was using the less expensive "store brand" fabric softener and she noticed that it was leaving the reservoir prematurely. She started using name brand,Snuggles, etc and it has worked like it is supposed to.
I think because the el cheapo brand is too thin, watery.
Make sure the dryer filter is cleaned at least every two drying cycles. The water filter(lower front bottom) should be cleaned regularly. We have had our Splendide since 2002 and she loves it.
It wasn't drying properly last week and she gave me the "Git" alternative. "Git fixed or git new". ORRR I will go to the laundramat.

It got fixed.

Redrover98, you got me questioning the filters here. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to correct you on wnything, but our Splendide 2100 does not have either filter you talked about. We've been using the w/d for 3 seasons now and have never cleaned out a dryer filter or water filter, is a difference in Splendides?

Ours is a Splendide 2000.The dryer filter screen is located at the top rear of the unit where the vent hose is. The filter is actually a small screen in a white plastic frame. The wash water filter is located at the lower right front corner of the machine. You push in on the one side of the little door and it springs open. There is a round plastic disk with a ridge. It unscrews and slides out.
