Looking for blocks someone made--

That go under landing legs. They were 3 boards thick and had a hardware handle on them. I think they were either painted green or else just treated lumber. They looked like little suitcases and being a woman, I thought they were "darling". They looked so simple that I thought I'd remember but now don't know if they were 2x8 or 2x10. The post was a long time ago like last fall. Before you bother him, I've already asked Ozz, haha

I made mine from two pieces of either 8x8 or 10x10. Put a fence type handle on them, painted them and was good to go.

I made mine out of a 2x12 base the up tp a stace of 2x4 side by side and then yhe next coarse turn so you are now building a post and screw them together about 8" high , but make the base big on the ground as its soft at times john

I used 2x12 cut square. Placed six of them in a stack, drilled a hole through them and bolted them together at the corners. I put a drawer pull on one side to make carrying easier. Worked for me.

I made mine out of decking wood 1 inch thick 12 by 12.
I dont understand why most use stacked or big tembers under the legs, I thought that the wood was used to prevent the leg from sinking into the dirt or ashfault, which a single piece of wood will accomplish that. I just see a lot of extra weight being carried around.

Paperheart,
There are all kinds of homemade levelers and all are good. I got tired of the 2x6 wood tote so I went "commercial" and bought the lightweight levelers at WalMart. They come in a handy storage bag.You could probably even pay less than Walmart on the web.

They work great and can even be used to change a tire or drive up on to extend tire life.

I'm not endorsing them but you may want to add them to your considerations. See http://www.lynxlevelers.com/. Also see http://www.campingworld.com/browse/p...=4155:src=CROS Good luck.

I agree Trailer Trash 2, I use these because my driveway is on a downgrade and the landing gear wouldn't extend long enough to level the trailer.I haven't decided if Iam going to carry them with us,they might come in handy if I need to change a tire.

Paperheart, If you buy a 4' X 4' piece of exterior 3/8" plywood and cut each piece into fourths you will have 16 12" x 12" pieces that you screw together (4 each) and mount a handle on one end to pick up, you will have exactly what you need. A 12" X 12" block will have 144Sq inches on the ground and give you a very stable platform. This suggestion was simonsrfs (Robbies) idea, not mine.

Also, if you have any kind of stabilizers, like the JT's you want the legs extended as far as possible to allow the stabilization arms to do the most good. 2" X 2" lumber will eventually split with the weight of the rig.

According to the JT Installer, a lot of wiggle happens at the blocks, especially the plastic ones.

Maybe Robbie will come along and post pictures of his blocks, (or, maybe not)...

Thanks everyone for your tips. Actually we have the Lynx levelers and on our first trip out we camped on a spot that was sandy and wet and the Lynx sunk quite a bit. We were unprepared for it and had to borrow boards. Imagine our embarassment with this big new fiver and didn't look like we new how to set it up! I started seeing pics of the suitcase thing and it seemed like a good idea. Now you've all made me realize that we don't need many boards just one large enough to make the base then we can go up higher with Lynx.
grateful to you all for the brainstorming, paper

Ok Phil, you shamed me into taking pictures!

I used a 4x4 sheet of 3/8" CDX...cost about $10. The handles were less than $1.50 each. I never painted them because they absorb the bug spray better without paint....thus we have to use less bug spray. This is real cheap and real easy. We also use these 4 blocks to help us get UP on the orange blocks....see photo below.

I only use these plastic blocks for the tires. They just break when used under the landing gears or the rear stabilizers. As you can see from the picture of this one wheel, we are using 6, and there are 6 on the other wheel too. This works great if you are stable getting on them.
