Take my cabinets, please.............

Just got home from a trip, and have to blow off a little steam. Has anyone else been having problems with these cheap cabinets they put in our highpriced Montanas? 2005 2955RL. The cabinet above the water heater that has the 2 drawers has came all apart inside. I have a plan to fix it with some "L" brackets and decent sized screws, with some wood glue for good measure. Left the drawers out for the trip home. Then, in the last 30 miles, one of the cabinet doors that faces the rear decided to open up while traveling I guess, and ripped itself, hinges and all, right off the cabinet. Said door was fastened into the particle board with 4 short screws. Is there a good fix for some of this? I'm sure the dealer will tell me to slow down or whatever, but I don't view my travel habits as abusive.

I have a 2005 3650RK and the first trip of only 45 miles one of the kitchen drawers fell apart and the drawer and framework was laying on the floor. I did what you are going to do - L brackets and screws. Unfortunately pretty much all furniture is made with staples which half of them do not hit their mark so things tend to fall apart. I feel your pain. But if you read some of the other problems people are having with the pin box/wall framework - this is a small price to pay. It still doesn't make it right, but hang in there.

one of my drawers was shutting "funny" and i could not figure out why. the man camped next to us was a cabinet maker--guess what he came to the rescue and fixed the back frame with an "L" bracket. I agree it seem they could make something with the "L" brackets to start with.--anyway we fixed all the drawer frames now.

Those cabinets were probably made by one of those employee's that did not pass the drug test at the asembly plant, HE He.

First of all those cabinets are at the low end as far as material and assembly compaired to the cabinets that are custume made for your house, they use a lot of MDF ( medium densety fiberboard ) with a photographed woorgrain look. if they fall apart and are not under warrintee take them into the shop and remove all the nails and get the clamps, pinner, and glue and go to work. the biggest problem that I am having with the cabinets is the hinges they are stripped and there isn't enugh meat left for the screw to hang on to so wood glue some tooth picks in the hole let it dry and reinstall the hinges.
good luck. How come Montana wont fix the cabinet? It should stil be on warintee.

I agree, these cabinets are as bad or worse than the ones in my old Prowler. I have been using the toothpick and elmers fix, it seems to work ok. I always bongee cord the cabinet doors before we hit the road.
