Broken & Lost Parts

We just finished our first 'longish' trip in our 2955. As I expected the rough roads took their toll on us.

I lost the little 'tab thingie' that locks one of the exterior cabinets, and the plastic clip which holds the closet doors closed broke in half. The lock part won't be a problem but the closet door retainer looks like it might be a hard one to find. Anybody here know what's it's really called & where I might find a replacement (and a spare)?

Thanks,
Russ

I have not had the closet door thingy break but had read that some people had so I purchased two spare ones from my Dealer.

The closet door latch can be found at most rv dealers. I modified mine by riveting a thin metal square across it then sawing it in half, parallel with the top/bottom. If you still have both pieces of the broken one, it can be done this way. Made them easier to open and they don't break.

The other latch I don't recognize from your descripiton.

Russ, we bought spares at a Montana dealer in California. I guess buying those spares were like insurance. We've never needed them. When we park the house we reverse the closet doors so the latches are only used when we're getting ready to hit the road. I think that helps preserve their life. Our rig is 3 years old next month with 27 months of fulltiming. Now I probably jinxed it and we'll break one. When you replace it you might check the alignment. I have to wonder if some are out of alignment, causing excess pressure on them when closing.

If you can't find just the tab and don't want to make one, you might buy another lock and move its tab to your original so you don't have different keys. Or maybe the new one will use the same key.
