If a person should blow a hose on the level up or slide out is there a clamp on splice or fitting one can buy to make the repair or do ya just need to replace the hose.. Thanks

Hi

Any automotive parts store that fabricates hydraulic hoses can make you a new hose. The hose that is on the trailer will most probable be a much lower pressure rating that the hoses made by these companies and a repair fitting will not be easy to obtain.

So before removing the hose or disconnecting at either end I would go to one of these companies with the information on the side of the hose it is normally ever 6 inches or so and printed long ways on the hose.

If you are unable to get a repair fitting (most probable not and not recommended) get a couple of caps and plugs. Disconnect the end that is easiest to get to and cap and plug the openings. Ties a string to the end of the hose and remove it leaving the string in place so you get the new hoes in the proper routing.

I just did this on an old road grader to replace an 18 ft long hose. It works quite well.

Great idea snaking the replacement hose. I suspect I would not have thought of that until time to install the new one.

There are repair fittings available at major hydraulic supply companies. I have never had to use one but carry them with me in case I am somewhere that I cannot get a hose made. You must know the hose size and inside diameter to get the correct ones.

If the break is close to the end of a hose then you might be able to find enough slack to put the new end on without having to replace the entire hose.

Here is a picture of the ones I carry:

If you can get the broke hose off, take it to a tractor repair place. They can usually build hydraulic hoses. Even Cat has some small hoses

I have blown a hose on my Level-up and had it replaced under warranty. But as others have said most any shop that makes hydraulic hoses for any hydraulic equipment should be able to make you a new one and they may be able to refit it for you.
