Plexiglass door
While volunteering down in Florida, I noticed some 5vers that they had replaced the screen door with plexiglass allowing them to keep main door open while running A/C. Has anybody done this mod?

Yes, we have it. Much more functional than screen. Adds light and outside view. We still have windows to open and fantastic fan if we want airflow. We put a thread on with pictures (storm door) a short while past. Larry PS It is on page 4 of additions and improvements.

Did it also, although we left the screen in. We hold the plexiglass in place by fitting top and bottom into the channel on the door and white plastic dog ears on the sides. Can remove the plexiglass if we want to, but haven't in almost two years. Works to get the heat or cold out, depending on the outside weather, but provides much more light in the living room. We'll be at the rally if anyone wants to see.

I did mine in 07 I used a hold pc of dark bronze. took out the screen and screwed it to the frame I love it and so does DW. the dark bronze makes it hard to look in unless at night when you have the lites on.

OK, for those who have done the install themselves, how is the best way to cut the plexiglass to fit screen door?

The descriptions are nice but I would like to see some photos of how everyone mounted the Plexiglas. We had a thin layer of plastic over the screen on our other camper and I haven’t done anything with this one yet. I know we really enjoyed the benefit of being able to leave the front door open. I just haven’t decided how we’ll do this one yet.

Measure three (3) times and go to Lowes and let them cut it.

I cut mine and several others with a jig saw with a metal cut blade. It cuts easy just take your time. I had a co in k-ville cut a pc the size of the door [75.00 1/8" tinted lexan] and I rounded the corners and cut out the slider. then mounted it to the frame with 1/4" countersink screws from lowes. bill I will put some pics on here if you want me to it will take a couple of days. BTW I do like to show off!! LOL

Well I found out that Lowes has a plexiglass cutting knife used to score the glass. I placed it between two 1x2's clamp them down, scored the plexiglass with knife then snapped it right off on the mark. Now I am sitting back and admiring a job well done.

Bobby does have a sweet setup! Very professional looking, first I had seen. He shared his improvements with me while he visited here in Moab, wish I had his skills with wood.Gonna do the door real soon.
