EMS-HW50C Progressive Industries Install
Did this today on my 2010 3150RL.
Took me about 4 hours (I didn't rush). The most difficult part was getting the #6 wire to line up/fit into the HW50C. That #6 wire is STIFF. I bought a piece of #6 wire (6 ft.) from Home Depot to run from the HW50C to the circuit breaker panel. I also coated the wire ends with NOALOX ( http://www.idealindustries.com/produ...ies/noalox.jsp ) I mounted the HW50C box on the ledge behind the 1st panel on the left in the passenger side storage bay. Keystone gives you plenty of wire to work with when pulling the circuit breaker panel and fuse panel. I mounted the remote display unit inside my coat closet just inside the front door. I didn't want to add another gadget to the wall next to the stairs where all the other controls are located.
I did have to call Progressive Industries tech support for a no power issue to some of my circuits. They responded to my voicemail within 5 minutes (WOW!) and solved the issue immediately.
I now have the peace of mind and protection that I needed/wanted for my $50k+ rig.
PM me if you have any questions about the install. Having done it once, I think it would take me about 2 hours to do now.
As always, disconnect ALL power sources before doing this install.

Good job.
I have the PT-50C (portable one). It is by far the best item I have ever purchased for the Monty, and now the SOB. It has kept my unit from getting fried a couple times now.

We got the hard wired unit this winter and NCFischer came down from NC just for the weekend to help me get it installed. We love it and it told us there was an open ground on several sites on the way home. Worth the cost... Dave

Got a harded wire unit several years ago, and love it. Don't know if you boondock or not. But just for info, you might need to turn off the unit when running your generator unless it has you have it grounded. I run a Honda 2000 and just turn it off when using the gen. Not likely to burn the place down with 2000 watts.

I agree that it's not needed with EU2000i. I have one and am VERY happy with it. We do boondock (national forest, state & BLM sites). I expect I'll just leave the EMS on all the time. That way I don't have to remember to turn it back on (hey, I'm 55+, I already have one of those pill boxes that has each day of the week!).

If you don't have a ground the EMS probably won't pass the electric through

Thanks to both mtheo and 8.1al for some useful advice regarding grounding. I would have been scratching my head on that one!

On the advice of Progressive Industries, we had to bond the neutral and ground together on the input from the generator to the EMS. It can be done with a dedicated pig-tail or in our case, our rig came with the IOTA smartswitch and I bonded them together on the generator side of the switch. As a side note, I have a dedicated front receptacle that I use only for the generator hookup, so based on that I would say a dedicated bonded pigtail would be the route to go.
