remote extender

I am looking for a remote extender so I can change channels on my sat. reciever from the bedroom. I found one at radio shack but do not know if it works properly. Any suggestions?

By remote extender I'm assuming you are talking about an RF extender. Either the Terk Leap Frog (LF-30F) or the RF Link (AVS-5811). Or some other radio frequency sender. If it is IR (Infra Red) it is more likely to be line of sight. That means you would have to see the sender in line with the remote for it to work.

Some of the sending units rely on the AC wiring to operate. It may be that where you have it plugged in is being filtered by the electrical system and the information is not being transmitted from one sending unit to the other.

What is your satellite system, DISH or DirectTV.

I bought one through Dish Network for our last Monty. It's a pyramid thing you set somewhere in front of the reciever. It accepts UHF remote from the bedroom and retransmits it as infra red.

Our new HD dual reciever already does that, so I don't need the pyramid thing anymore. If you had Dish Network I would send it to you, but I don't think it will work on Direct TV.
