Mountaintop Stick House

Labor Day weekend we FINALLY got to hook up the Montana and leave town for a few days. We went up the road a couple of hundred miles to Chama, N.M., and spent 4 days worrying about nothing at all. We stayed at Sky Mountain Resort and RV Park, a place I highly recommend. They have several pull through sights, along with several back into sights that are a little more private. All the sights have full hookups with 50 amp service, and the owners of the place are extremely accomodating, and friendly.
In and around town there are several things to do and see, from old saloons to riding the coal fired Cumbres and Toltec narrow guage steam train into Colorado and back, to wandering through the mountains on bikes or by other means. It was on one of our treks into the mountains on Forrest Road 87 that we found this real nice little fixer upper. Heating and cooling are no problem, cold in winter, and hot in summer. Not much room to move around, and no running water, but the view is awesome, .

The trip to and from Chama was pretty uneventfull. The roads were good, the truck and trailer performed flawlessly, and we saw a gazillion other campers, including a couple of Montanas.

I'll post pictures of the train later. We didn't take the time to ride it but will someday. It looks like alot of fun.

That is really weird, Lonnie! I'm reading this post and Dory is chatting in the background. I'm half ignoring her and not listening to the other half when I hear the word Chama! I thought she was reading over my shoulder - but instead she was telling me about her workmate that just got back from riding the train from CO to Chama and how nice of a weekend it was and how we should go!

I'm beginning to think everybody is on the same page except me!

Glad you finally got a break!

LonnieB that is quite the "little fixer upper", but I'm afraid I couldn't afford it.
