The Great Solution
I stopped by an auto parts store as I was headed to radio shack. Never made it to radio shack. Bought a 12 power take off. It was right next to the cigarette lighter socket display. The difference is that it had a bracket to mount it and wires to make the connection to the ground and the upfitter switch.
Bruce helped me mount it up under the dash and then just plugged in the Nuvi. We routed the wire along the door frame under the gasket, but it was too short to be routed above the windshield so as to drop down beside the mirror. So I just laid it on the dash. When I connected to the cradle and mounted it where I normally mount it. It is easy to disconnect the cradle and put Nuvi and wire out of site.
Thank you all for the great solution. Now I have an uncluttered cab with GPs, PressurePro, and CB radio all controlled by the upfitter switches.
