Don, I also copied OldGuard's idea and it works great. The holes are already there and ready to use, at least on our rig. It's quick and easy to use and works very well. Those steps are going nowhere without our permission.

On the steps coming out. First I lubed the step pivots to make them easier to fold out. Then in about 30 mph cross winds in west Texas, the step unfolded while driving! Well that happened twice in about 10 miles of travel. Final solution--still in use today--old reliable bungy cord. I tried the drilled hole+pin but the cord seemed simpler.
