2'nd A/C or

We have decided to get the second air-conditioning but; are we better off going with the air-conditioning with built in heat pump?

My opinion, for the second unit, (Or first..) no heat pump. Heat would be better coming from the floor, just better comfort.
Heat pumps for RV's are overkill in my opinion, also why run that noisemaker when a silent electric heater would do the job in winter.

We have an elec. fire place, and it produces enough for normally cool days until you really need furnace. It is also quiet.

Remember: Warm air rises, cold air sinks. However, if you do go with a Heat Pump unit, you can run the ceiling fan to push the warm air down. We have a electric heater and run the ceiling fan in reverse mode to help circulate the air, works for us.

No heat pump...regular A/C is best for the second unit.

Thanks for the replies. All good points, I was just thinking about saving propane when hooked up to electricity. I never even thought about the extra noise, heat rising and so on.

I thought about putting in a 2nd roof AC, but for about 100.00 you can buy a 6000 BTU window AC and it works great. Slides in and out of the window or the dresser, and lays on the bed when on the road. Goes in and out within 5 min and very inexpensive. Also can be installed and run off a small generator, when sitting in a parking lot. No need to big generator.

I added the Penguin 13.k heat pump as the second A/C unit this spring.

Worked great on those cool (>32 degree) evenings.
