Beware the winter cover

I covered the trailer this winter. It's not a custom cut but fit pretty good.( I thought)
I couldn't resist uncovering it last week during a couple of warm days we had and found one of the vertical zippers on the door side had worked against the rolled edge of the roof wearing just about all the way thru the white roof material. I'm sure the constant winds had alot to do with it.
I should be able to doctor it up with some eterabond or whatever's recommended.

Sorry to hear that, John. Bummer. Guess that's another reminder that covering the Monty may not be a good idea. Another RV friend tried one this year, too. High winds shredded the expensive cover in a month or so. Bummer.

That has been a topic on the MOC several times and the rubbing the high corners from the wind has been mentioned your zipper rub is another I will have to add to that list of Cons for a cover.
Im sure that the idea of eterabond will fix the problem, cleaning the area before you use eterabond is the most inportant thing you will need I used assitone on my prep three years ago and it has not started any curling or seperation.
Good luck on you repair.

I used assitone once but it didn't work because my butt still drooped so I gave up! (Sorry Don, I just couldn't resist taking the bait!)
I didn't cover mine this winter (which is the 1st year I've owned it). I'd like to get it out of the sun but covered storage is cost prohibitive for me. Maybe I can just keep it waxed and 303'd and that will forestall the fading and cracking of the decals.

All RV forums, most RV's have experience problems from unit to unit regarding covers. It just happens. Probably a better solution is a building to house an RV. I just bite the bullet and puy it in covered storage.
