RV show without a single Montana!!

We went the the WV Sports Show Saturday in Charleston, WV with fellow MOCers Bill-N-Donna. Had a great time seeing the newer SOB model lines and their upgrades (I like to see the upgrades so I can add to future mod lists!!) but we could not compare them to any new Montana's. There were none there, not one. Our local dealer quit carrying the Montana line, and I guess no other dealer wanted to go to the trouble of coming that far (1 1/2 hours to nearest Montana dealer). I had went there for another purpose anyway (wanted to look at jet-skis), and there were a grand total of two on display. That was the second disappointment. Oh well, had a good time, had dinner at Outback, and really enjoyed the company as well.

And just what would be the purpose of an RV show without Montanas??? Sort of like dinner without food!

I just got back from the Indianapolis Boat Sport and Travel show which is the biggest one in this area all year and the #1 Montana Dealer Walnut Ridge RV didn't have a single Montana there either. They had the New High Country in the Couger Line and the rest were all Travel Trailers. Very disappointed on my part I didn't even see the new Alpine line either.

The dealer in our area (Delaware) are no longer carrying Montana's this year. They stated to us due to the rising Montana prices. They replaced it with SOB. We where said to hear that.

I'm thinking the other brands lobbied and had Montana, Sprinter, Mountaineer all banned because they couldn't sell their brands...
Or not.

The Boston show did not have any Montana's either which was disappointing to us. The dealer we had bought ours from has stopped carrying the Montana line and told us it was because an SOB brand was selling better and they couldn't support both. Go figure!

Bill & Cindy Daniels, you folks are just down the road from us....

Here in North Dakota at the KX Sport and RV Show in Minot, the states largest, there is typically only one Montana in the line up. Rather disappointing but the many dealers there have the family style units on hand like the bunkhouse ones and toy haulers.

No matter what our "commander in chief" tries to do with smoke and mirrors ... our economy is hurting. One cannot buy a $50,000 RV or a $200,000 home on Mickey D's wages or what one makes in the summer mowing lawns and landscaping. Middle class manufacturing jobs are disappearing and not coming back. At the RV shows in the Great Plains states, dealers are not willing to pull their inventory as far to shows that they once did. Several long standing RV dealers have closed shop. Another point of interest I've noticed is by the last day of regional RV shows in my area, the number of "sold to new owner" signs has noticably dwindled. I too like to browse for new "mod" ideas and have not had the selection to look at of say 5 years ago.

Yes, a sign of the times, but if you don't market something, people won't buy it. When shopping for a new rig, we specifically looked for Montanas.

They had a lot of Montanas at the Quartzsite Show. The dealer told us they sold 17 the fiest weekend.
Later in the week they had replaced them and were selling the replacements.

Must have been a smarter group of RV buyers at Quartzsite.

Wow, hadn't realized this was going on until I read this and talked to my SiL yesterday. She went to the Timonium MD show and looked at a couple of Montanas, but the one she is most interested in wasn't there. I told her I'd see if my dealer had one on the lot. When I went to his website I saw that the only Keystone he carries now is Outback. I then confirmed on Keystone's website that there is now only one dealer in NC between the coast and Charlotte. That is the second dealer in the Raleigh area to stop selling Montanas in the past 3 years.

We're going to the show in March, so I'll try and find out what's up.

At the San Antonio show a few weeks ago, the local dealer had 5 or 6 Montanas and alot of other rigs. We met a number of people looking at the rigs--I don't know how many were sold. The show is in the Alamodome and there were at least 25 rigs outside the facility that would not fit inside. A note--2 years ago the San Antonio RV show was cancelled. Looks like the south Texas guys think things are getting better.
