Fresh Water Question

I've had the rig out five times now and each time, when checking levels, I notice a gain in my fresh water tank. Why is water going there? Is a valve mis-directing the water or do I have something set wrong? Longest we've stayed anywhere is three days and I'm draining 5 to 7 gallons worth of water from fresh water tank drain located at the back of the rv. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Make sure your fresh water fill valve is fully in the normal position. Have you used your water pump? If not, turn off your fresh water coming into the coach and turn on the pump and run water so the pump runs. It is possible that there is some debris in the check valve built into the pump, allowing water to flow back into the fresh tank. If this does not stop the flow to the fresh tank, you may need a new pump. We had this problem several years ago and I installed an in-line check valve ahead of the pump and it solved the problem without replacing the pump.

Some of the selector valves have been known to leak
