Montana Business Card Template

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. When I try to print using the Montana business card template it double prints over an existing name.

Would it happen to be member "RC and Samantha"?

Ron -
If it is a name you can't see or type over, it might be in the header.

Ron,
Are you using the template off of the MOC home page?

I just loaded it into my computer, using Word for Mac and it came up and printed out fine.

I would suggest that you get rid of any copies you have and start over by again downloading the template. You may inadvertently copied and pasted information over old information.

When working with business cards it is sometimes best to fill out each card information by originally typing then to use a copy command. (Don't ask me how I know - I did the template)

Just tried again, it looks fine. When I print the RC and Samantha show up on all but the first card and the last two cards.

Ron,
I'm trying to figure out what may be wrong with the template. The one off of the MOC home page is fine. However, I have found that cutting and pasting inside that template can have some weird results. I'm thinking the template came from other than the MOC home page, is all.

I'd like to study it and see what the problems are.

Thanks.

Ron,
I sent you an email and a second one with the word document formatted with your information. Took about 2-3 minutes to do - so no charge.

I'm posting here for others.

It appears that the template that was used that has the double typing was a .(dot)tif graphic file. The original template was not a graphic file so someone somewhere along the way converted or just could not use the Word format. When using a graphic file for a business card printout, the graphic layout can be very cumbersome, to say the least. It appears that there was an under layer of "RC And Samantha" on the graphic image and subsequent tries at adding another name as a graphic without deleting the original graphic caused the double printout.

Using the template on the MOC homepage I just highlighted the portion I wanted to change and type the user name. Then I highlighted the full name and typed the name I wanted in that place, and I did the same for the email. Once that was done, I copied just the user name and moved to each card template, highlighted the user name and pasted the new name. By highlighting the old name, it assures that the past will take its place. I did the same for Full name, and then email address. Although I did each card separately.

I left a little work for you to do on the template I filled in for you, so just half payment will be sufficient.

p.s., if you do not have MS Word for the PC or MAC, you can use Open Office Writer, it's free, and achieve the same results.

Good luck

Edited: for my stupid spelling.

Waynem,

All that stuff should be stripped from your "template" (which seems to be a .doc instead of a .dot at this point) , then the template should be protected so edits cannot be saved by someone back to the source template. Then they would have to do a "save as" to their own hard drive.

At least that's my take on it.

When I deleted everything but the letterhead and put it in my Doc files and then printed it had the DC & Samantha, their full names and email name.

KT,
One of these days when I'm finished doing nothing that I started yesterday I'll think about changing it to a .dot form filled file - or, in the meantime someone else that is doing nothing could attempt such a trivial endeavor.

Helmick,
There is no letter head. The .doc file is an MS Word file that I created and it does not have a letter head, or headers or footers.

I'm thinking that you are probably using something other than a word processor to open the document. I have sent you a completed document with instructions. Let us know how it works.

If you are still having trouble, call me

I'll talk you through it.
