I don't think a rear bumper would look very good on the Montana. Plus, Lippert will not warranty their chassis if it has any type of hitch on the back.

YOPPER,

Welcome to the Forum! There are some add on hitches you can put on (do a search for posts by OZZ). There are also some neat racks that attach to your front pin-box to carry them on the front.

A third alternative I'm looking at is a roof mounted rack on my TV. Must be 600 square feet of roof up there on my crew cab. Won't be popular with the Colorado cowboy clan here with a big YAKIMA thing on the roof of my pickup, but so be it.

Yopper,

I'm also looking for a solution for our two bikes without jeopardizing the Lippert warranty (although I don't think a bike rack would present any real potential for damage or failure). One option I've found is a front mounted hitch for the TV - see:

Not sure why the original link didn't work - here's an update:

Yopper - your URL didn't work.

Also, you might talk with LonnieB. His signature photos show a 4WD ORV trailer behind his Montana.

I put a front mount hitch on truck. Got it at J C Whitney. Works well for 2 bikes or I have a Tray that I pin in the reciever & haul a moped.

If you don't already own a Montana, take a look at the Montana Mountaineer. They have a really neat slide bumper with a tray on it. I removed the plastic insert on mine and replaced it with aluminum diamond plate. Then I mounted two front fork mounts on it. Works great and even holds both of my 60 wheelbase recumbents with the front tire removed.

The issue with the lack of rear bumpers on Montanas has been around for a long time but obviously Keystone won't bite. I'm sure there's some structural reason involving more $$ that effects their final decision. Most of us wish there was the ability to put a bike rack back there.

I have a front receiver on my TV and I put my Yakima bike rack in it then put the two bikes on the rack. I must tell you that I would never drive with all that up front. There is to much distraction up there. You have to drive looking through the tires. I am with the others, there should be a receiver on the rear of the Montana. I am going to go for the ladder bike rack.

I think Keystone would hit a home run, should they provide a frame or do the research that would allow a trailer hitch on their frame WITH WARRANTY. I know that some would over do it, and that I think is what keeps Keystone from authorizing it.
I was hoping in the future they would authorize it, with a weight limit, about 1000# I have a EZ Go Golf cart that I would surely love to take on our extended stay trips

I have one of the ladder mounted bike racks, and while it works OK, after a round trip from Tennessee to Arizona, I found that it loosened the screws that mounted the ladder to the fifth wheel. Now, I just use it on relatively short trips. It takes a few minutes to get the bikes mounted, but everything is secure, and stays put.
