need battery exhaust hose
Where can I get battery vent hose? Dealer installed second battery and the tops are keyed. Dealer put hose on and the tops are backwards so they do not seal right. I need to replace the hose to properly seal and vent the battery cases.

Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, ACE Hardware all carry reinforced plastic tubing ... geeze, I wonder how we all got along without a vent for the last half century ... just being sarcastic toward the RV industry here.

Thanks. I was wondering if it had to be any special composition due to the acid. Actually, I do believe that the vented stuff is hydrogen. Can there be much of it? Anyway, maybe best to vent in case spark happend in the enclosure???

It's sump pump hose, it's best to vent.

Yeah, vent it. The gas is very corrosive to other electronics and as mentioned, flamible(as in explosive). Doesn't smell good either.

This is my first RV with an internal battery setup, never worried about gasses before this one. I'd imagine most of the RV industry still uses external batteries since there are more TTs than 5ers.

I added a second golf cart battery, I just bought another hose, cut a hole in the top of my new battery box, and looped it over to the first one, then out to the vent.

My dealer vented my two batteries just like Ozz did but my last slide in Camper had the battery inside the unit under the dinette booth. It did have a battery box and a hose vent to the outside but it was all poorly sealed and when the unit was plugged into shore power and the battery was fully charged the propane gas detector would pick up the battery gasses and start beeping. I had to seal the battery box to fix that problem.
With the battery boxes in the front compartment along with our little landing gear electric motor I always feel better about running this motor with the front doors wide open just in case some battery gasses were to build up in there although the chance of that happening is rare, better safe than sorry.

A marine supply will have vent hoses. They have been required for a long time on boats.
