Toilet Problem

We have a 2014 3582RL. We noticed yesterday that the Black tank filled up and almost overflowed. I had drained the tank earlier and it was not used at all during the day. I went ahead and drained the tank again . Today it happen again and we do not hear water running and not sure where the water is coming from. I drained it earlier tonight and the meter was reading 1/3. Just checked it 2 hours later and now it is showing 2/3 and have not used it at all. Do not seeing anything leaking in the toilet. I know this seems crazy and I would think I would hear water running. Any Ideas or has anybody ran into this?

Some models have the washing machine draining into the black tank. Jim

Sounds like you have the incoming water line hooked to black tank rinse connection instead of water supply to trailer. OR you have the Tetford aqua magic 2 toilet that is leaking water into the bowl and leaking out of the bowl due to not sealing off well, which slowly will fill up your tank. BEWARE...it will also fill the toilet bowl and flood the trailer just as easily. Too many of us have been there and now have the better dometic model 310 or 320. John

If it is the toilet, don't bother with Tetfords repair options. As stated above replace it with a Dometic.

Install a shut off valve in the water line feeding the toilet and then shut it off. That will tell pretty quick if the toilet water is leaking slowly past the ball.

Turn off the city water feed, put some water in the fresh tank and turn on the pump. If you have water flowing into the tank, you will hear the pump cycling on and off. You might have to listen for a while depending on how much water is flowing. Probably not long though. If you crack a faucet open ever so slightly, it doesn't take long for the pump to cycle.

Is your in coming water hose connected to the "Black Tank Flush Connection"? If so, that is where the water is coming from. It should be connected ONLY to your "City Water Connection"

PackerFan beat me to it! It sounds like he may have hit the nail on the head to me. We have a 3582RL also and have not had a problem(knock on wood ) with our toilet so far and if we do it will be replaced with a Dometic unit but until then it's the Thetford but before heading out this year, I'm putting shutoff valves on all of the water lines period just to be on the safe side. Check past posts about problems with the toilets but most of them you would be hearing or seeing the water running. Let us know what you come up with.

Thanks for the good ideas. I definitely have the hoses hooked up correctly. I have been in the same location for almost 2 months and it started acting up a couple of days ago. I am going to drain the tank in the morning and see what happens. I will check to see if it is a thetford and might have to go to a Dometic. I will keep you posted on what I find.
