Loving our home on wheels
Hello
My name is Lois and my husband is Bill. He retired last year. We now live in BC Canada. We have a 2010 MONTANA 3150 RL. We just got back from an almost 4 week RV group tour of the Northwest Territories. Lots of driving!- trees, waterfalls, bison and friendly people, and of course, some wet gravel roads and some dry gravel roads. Loved exploring and then coming back to our great RV. Never had trouble until the side light and hitch light came on and would not go off! Looked on the forum and found there was a remote that came with this unit! Thanks for the great info on here. Now we can go back to the previous owner and see if the remote can be tracked down!

Welcome to the forum! We had a 2010 and yes there were both switches inside for the scare lights and they also worked with the remote. If they were turned on with the remote they had to be turned off that way. Since you don't have a remote, either something interfered with the remote receiver or you have one switch in the on position.

Sounds like a heck of a trip. Welcome. Hope you solve the remote mystery. There are some old threads on the remote and it's receiver which is on the wall in the front compartment above the battery.

Thank you! Hope to get to Florida one day again in the RV to explore a little more than a car rental and 2 days can give you!

This will help!
If your scare light will not turn off, no matter what you do, disconnect the battery at the ground post. Look on the remote control board against the bulkhead in the battery compartment and note that no lights are illuminated. Reconnect the battery clamp and see what happens. The remote can be reset using this procedure if you do not have the handheld. Good luck!

There is also a 3rd pull handle for the galley (kitchen sink) holding tank behind the left rear tire along the frame. I’ve met several 3150RL owners who were unaware of this 3rd holding tank and you may eventually realize the dealerships know less than you do...”we love our 3150, hope you do also.”

Your trip sounds awesome. Question - if you don't have the remote, how did the lights get turned on in the first place? Seems that whatever caused them to be turned on would also cause them to be turned off. My 2012 3150RL has a remote and if the light is turned on with the remote it has to be turned off with the remote. If it is turned on without the remote, the remote is not needed to turn it off.

We were in a fairly full park at the time and the only thing we can think of is someone else’s remote affected our unit, it was very odd.

Yes thanks. It’s a strange spot, and if you’re parked for long it’s odd to pull the slide in to clear it, but we’ve got it. Love our unit. Now living in it while we finish renos on our little stick built home!

That seems the only explanation. The remotes are probably not coded to one 5er so any one could change things. Good thing that other person didn't push the button for slides or jacks. Actually, in my limited experience with the remote, it seems that when these odd lights get turned on it is unintentional.
