Almost made it home from rally

Well we made to with in ten mile s from home when the laft rear duals decided to take off on their own. Truck slammed to the ground at about 65 mph and what a ride the outer tire passed us up on the left crossed in front of use and then into the weeds the inner tire stopped in the center of the two lanes so far every thing was going good until the brake drum came apart and a lady made slite contact and dented her front bumper. Everyone got thru all of this fine no one hurt and very little damage, the montana came thru this fine, everyone and everything is home and doing fine. So the next time someone says have safe trip home be thankful when you get there in one piece.

WOW! What an experience. I am glad that you both are safe and that no one was hurt. Things happen fast when something goes wrong. I saw my son-in-laws tire go past us while we were traveling together once and that was quite an experience. What made your rear wheels come loose? Let us all know as we learn from others experiences.

*Oh my gawd!!*

I am so glad that no one was injured. What an experience you went through. It was the left rear duals from the truck that started it all, right?

Please let us know how things end up and if you can determine exactly why it occured.

Ditto, WOW - how fortunate you all weren't hurt and you are home safe and sound. What an experience that must have been.

Safe travels.

Don't you hate it when that happens? Please update us on the cause of this happening. Sounds like a serious malady! Happy you and yours made it through. I suffer from " blow out phobia" so every time I read a post like yours it does my heart good to know it's something you can live to tell about.

Roman, Glad everybody's ok. I can't even imagine what the ride was like in the truck. Can you fill us in on what caused the tire to take a little trip without the truck?

Last weekend we had both front and right rear tires off to check the brakes all the brakes looked good so we never touched the left rear, the lugnuts were on the other wheels so tight I had to use a 3/4 breaker bar to remove the lugnuts, with the lugnuts thst tight I didn't think there would be any problems with the left side rears. I have put about 10,000 mileson this truck sense I bought it in December and have never had the left rear tires off. Two of the studs were busted off and the other six were not there, So I am really puzzled as to why the problem took so long to show up. I crawled under the 5er and could not find any damage wish I could say thr same for the truck, look like I need the baking plate, drum, a new set of shoes and all the hareware to hold them on, the tire did manage to take a chunk of fibergiass off the wheel flair but I will be able to repair that. I feel we very lucky that no one got hit by the runaway tires. the one lady that did recieve some damage to her car was pretty minor but a scary moment for her too. Thanks for your conceres and if I find out any thing new I will post for you to read.

Roman,
So sorry to hear of your troubles. But so happy that it was not any worse than it was! Thank you for sharing and good luck on getting all fixed up and back on the road soon.

Let us hope that the next Rally will end on a happier note for you folks.

I saw you leaving the rally and am so happy you made it through a frightful experience. Rest assured we will all be better for it. Personally, I plan to do a thorough checkout before we get back on the road.

Roman -

Echoing what everyone else has said, glad the two of you are okay. Rigs and trailers are made new everyday, but people aren't replaceable. Hope this didn't dampen your time at the rally. We hope you can join us again next year.

Glad you made it without getting hurt. Maybe you should call your local dealer and tell them what happened. They might be able to tell you what caused it.

Wow! What a miracle nobody was hurt. So glad you made it home safely and avoided a huge disaster on the road. I've learned from your experience and can appreciate what feelings you must have had when everything started falling apart. Let us know the final outcome. We're glad you're safe.
