The Passing of Fern

Monday September 27 we lost of beloved Beagle Fern. She was 15 ½ years old and will be missed greatly. She had several nicknames mostly Puppy girl and the Princess. She brought so much joy into our lives with her popping her head at the end of our bed when she wanted her breakfast to begging for cheese when we were in the kitchen. Her favorite snack was peanut butter and crackers, mostly peanut butter.
She had been ill with digestion problems for about a year and we even thought that she wouldn’t be able to travel with us with our new Home (Montana). She was able to travel 7 weeks with us and loved riding in the back seat of the truck, sleeping most of the time and watching the scenery go by at other times. She really loved it when we would stop at McDonalds for some fries. She was able to go to one of the camp fires at the fall rally and just laid in our laps watching the fire and all around.
When she passed on John Kohl told us to read the “Rainbow Bridge” story, We did. That night after the Cheese and Wine social Laurie called me outside, there south of the fairgrounds was the brightest full rainbow we had ever seen with a softer rainbow above. All Laurie and I could think of was that was our Puppy Girls Rainbow!! We would like to think all of our new friends and family and the support that was given us at the Fall Rally through this trying time. May our Father in Heaven bless each of you always.

Bill and Laurie.

Bill and Laurie, again, our hugs and sympathies come your way.

For you, once again, and those others of us who have lost a fur kid, here is the Rainbow Bridge Poem:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

At this page, you can leave memorials to your kids, I have never done it, so only pass on the info, your call.

Again, Hugs, Bill and Laurie, may your puppy memories sooth your soul.

Bill and Laurie, we are so sorry for your loss. We saw that double rainbow, too, and now know that it surely was for Fern.

Thanks for once again posting the poem...it's always good for a cry. Bill and Laurie, you know our hearts. There was no question that the double rainbow was for Fern. Your little kitty and Fern are together again and are waiting for that day when the family will be together again. God Bless you both and all your travels. Hope to see you on the road again soon, but if not before Sept...we will see you at the Fall Rally.

We're very sorry for your loss. We have been through it and know how difficult it is to lose a dear friend. Sounds like she had a very happy life.
