CPAP

I know many of you are on a CPAP machine as I am. Today Medicare bought me a new one because my compliance has been low and my need for increased pressure. I am happy about this new machine. It is a variable positive air pressure machine (VPAP).

It is smart. It senses the level of air pressure I need and adjusts to it. It is very small compared to the ones I have used, about loaf of medium loaf of bread including the integrated humidifier. It a ResMed Autoset II, S-8. We will see if I get better results.

Stiles,

I've had my current machine for 12 to 15 years. I think it may be time to update it. Now that I'm on MediCare perhaps I can get a nice smart one like you've got. It sounds like a really nice machine.

Hamrad, if medicare has never paid for your machine, you should be eligible for a new machine. A partial sleep test was necessary to establish the pressure I needed now. I knew what I wanted, so I took clinical info off the internet to give my doctor. Take a look at this site and read the clinical info at ResMed.

Stiles,

Thanks. That is a nice compact machine. Mine looks like a large coffee pot and is not as quiet as it could be. I'd like to have quieter, smaller, and smarter machine. I'll ask my doctor to get set up for getting a new one.

Thanks again Stiles. I appreciate your info. Let us know how it works for you after a few weeks.

I can let you know after one night. It is quieter, whisper quiet. The "ramp up" feature really was nice. New mask did not leak. The main thing though is the report from my wife, "I didn't hear a thing out of you all night."

I have mine set to come on automatic. When I put the mask on and exhale into it, the machine comes on automatically. No fumbling for the switch. When I take it off the machine stops in a couple of seconds.

The integrated humidifier is very easy to fill and will be very easy to clean. They have included a cap to cover the removable container, so you put the cleaning solution in, cap it, shake, then rinse and you are done.
