The state of Oregon showed great wisdom in protecting it's shoreline form being all gobbled up and developed by commercial interests. From one end to the other it is one of our favorite places to visit and we did just that in October, hard to count the times we have been down there over the last 30 years.

ALOT of pluses if you are retired but not if you are still working because there is not alot of jobs there ,laid back, Nice beaches ,Forest, but one MINUS it is the NW after all and there is the RAIN but we live in Wa st so we are use to it and do not mind it and in the fall and winter the resorts are not crowded at all,in a few years we will probably move there ALSO if you like ATV, Quads, sand rails ETC... they have some of the best sand Dunes in the country

Stayed at the Sand and Sea last year. Great campground overlooking the pacific. High tide comes right up to the campground. The view is spectacular!!! I would go back there again!

What kind of temperatures are you looking at in the winter there and any amount of snow to speak of? I understand the rain and all, just would like to visit that area but most of our summers are taken up in MI. Looking at sometime in late Sept. till whenever!! Really want to see the area, just got to make it happen.

Dave and Linda,
We've visited the OR coast as late as September and early October and the weather was fantastic. Temps were in the high 50's up to the upper 60's. That was the very first time we visited and we got spoiled! We expected it to be that way each and every visit. We've never gotten snowed on but a big storm can bring in some. Rain is much more likely and very common. We prefer the Sept./Oct. time frame. We miss the "busy" season and if lucky we get decent weather. But it is hard to go wrong at any time! Just make your plans and have fun. Best of luck, Dennis and Mary Kay.

Glad you're enjoying it! We've always stayed at the state campgrounds when visiting the Oregon coast, yet have always heard great things about the Sun&Sand CG.
Can't beat the Oregon coast for beauty and long walks - we miss it. Say HI for us!

It has been in the 40's, two beautiful sunny days, one cold, one rain. If you look at the live web cam you are looking at our roof. At this moment the light i the lower right is our porch light.
We will definitely come back. The lower level is back in so rear living you would be facing a bank. Upper level is back in with rear facing ocean. Fantistic view with no obstructions. It's a ten in my book.

grampachet,
The Sea and Sand RV park is not in Lincoln City. It is about eight or nine miles south in the little town of DePoe Bay. Sounds like an interesting park. We will try it out the next time we are up that way. By the way you must have turned off your porch light off. I couldn't see it when I looked at their Web Cam. Enjoy! HamRad

You are correct, coming from the north it is just past Glenden.
4985 N Hwy 101, Deopt Bay, Oregon. Lincoln County.
Update on the weather. "It was a dark and stormy night!!!!!"
Would have thrown out the anchor if I had I one.
The rocking in the wind gusts in not condusive to a good nights sleep

We stayed dry, but I did promise myself at about 2:30 am that I would not use those blocks under the front jacks again, i kept thinking it wont be good if those gusts happen to move us over a little.
