Thorn Removal

We recently bought some bushes to plant at the stick house. Silly me, I didn't know that one type of bush we bought had little thorns on it. Really sharp little thorns. Well you guessed it, I got one of the little thorns in my thumb. And of course it broke off even with the skin. I have been trying to get it out with a needle for four or five days, all the while it was getting more sore by the day. I just couldn't get it dug out far enough to get a hold of it with a pair of tweezers. And I was constantly hitting it on something and causing pain. I was telling this lady about not being able to get the thorn out when she said she had an old remedy to make it come out. You break an egg and take the thin white skin from inside the egg shell and put it over the thorn or splinter with a band aid covering it. The next day the thorn or splinter is supposed to be pulled out by the skin from the egg. Well, being the doubting Thomas that I am I didn't really think it would work; but DW put it on my thumb anyway. A day later I took the band aid off and to my amazement the thorn was worked out of my thumb enough to where I could easily get a hold of it with a pair of tweezers.

I just had to pass this on, I had never heard of this home remedy before and really doubted that it would work; but, beleive me it works.

As a carpenter, I get lots of slivers (wood and metal). My tried and true method of removal is to dig them out, short of filleting my fingers!!

on tiny thorns, like cactus, you can put clear nail polish over the area and then when it dries and you pull it off the "sticker" will come out
