Information on Mountaineer 298RLS?

Hi all,
We've been looking at all kinds of 5th wheel trailers (first time owners) and have gravitated to the Montana or Montana Mountaineer models. We like everything about them. We've fallen in love with a particular '05 Mountaineer 298RLS that is in absolutely 'like new' condition. It is for sale be an individual and I think it is priced OK, especially for it's immaculate condition. Can anyone tell me any specifics about this model that I need to check on or have concerns about. Thanks, Steve

If it is anything like a 328 RLS. The only way I would sell it is to make enough to buy another with vacation money left over.

Thanks, that's encouraging. It's not as big as the 328RLS and only has two slides. Other than that I would assume the components and construction would be the same. The 298RLS we're looking at has a four burner stove, convection microwave, recliners IPO rockers, chrome wheels with 16" tires IPO 15" and slideout awnings. I'm not sure if there are any options it doesn't have or should have.

We have a 2006 344RET and can only say postive things about the Mountaineer. I know it's not the same model, but I believe the quality should carry over from one model to the next. If you think it's priced OK, I'd say "Go for it!"

I had an 02 Mountaineer 315RLS, loved it. Actually was enjoyed it so much, I traded it in for the 3400RL Montana. As others have said; if the price is right, go for it.

We have had a 2005 298rls for almost 2 years and have been very
very satified with it. The few problems we had when it was new
were fixed easily. We have spent one winter in Texas with it and
are preparing to leave again. We don't have any regrets about this
purchase

What kind of problems did you have? This one has been used so little I wouldn't be too suprised if there are some new unit bugs to work out, but I won't have the benefit of the warranty. I don't mind if their normally little things I can fix myself.

Steve if you are worried about no factory warranty why don't you spend an extra $800.00 and get a 7 year extended warranty?

Thanks Jim, I was wondering about that. You can buy an extended warranty on a used one? It's my understanding that extended warranties only cover things the mfg. warranty doesn't, so since I won't have any mfg. warranty will the extended warranty cover everything? Thanks, Steve
