3000RK Bedroom Slide

I have a 2007,3000RK. As my son and I were finding out how everything works, we found the manual crank for the living room slide but could not find one for the bedroom slide. Do you loosen a hydraulic line and then push it in by hand?

Has anyone modified under the bed to increase storage space?
Thanks for any guidance you can send my way.

I'm a little weakly versed on your unit, but I believe both slides are hydraulic … dunno what crank you are talking about.
You have to watch storing stuff under the bed subpanel as you need to remember that space grows and shrinks when the slide moves in and out. Hydraulics are powerful and will crush things without much effort.

Page 17 captures the process for every hydraulic slide we have had in our Montana units. Great post and guidance.

I bet that manual crank was on the front wall of the pass-thru compartment. It is for the electric jacks in case the motor fails. As Dieselguy pointed out, all your slides are hydraulic. Usually the bedroom is the first to act as it is the lightest. If the hydraulic pump motor fails you do the 1/4" hex bit in a drill routine to move the slides as detailed on Page 17 of the PDF.

Thank you, page 17, in fact, the whole PDF was helpful. The storage I was thinking of doing under the bed after I removed the plywood noticed a lot of wasted space due to the hydraulic ram set up. I'm thinking of turning ram so the hose ports are facing the floor, then making boxes that fit between outside frame and center support (where hyd. ram anchors), the boxes will stay stationary when extending/retracting bedroom slide. Then cut and hinge the plywood so that we keep some of the limited storage space but can access the installed boxes also (when the slide is extended, storage area for an item not used daily). Hope I'm making sense. I will take some photos as I go along. Thanks again to everyone for your wisdom and guidance.

When you're turning the ram … do not tighten up the 2 big nuts against the bracket thinking it is loose … leave the space the way it is. There is more stroke on the cylinder than there is physical distance the slide can move. This space between big nuts is how the slide is adjusted full in or full out.

dieselguy, Both nuts were already tight, one on each side of the mounting bracket. So once I turn the ram, I should retighten them the way they started?

All units are a little different … just loosen enough to turn ram, then tighten back as you found them. This assumes the bedroom slide seals good both in and out.
