I do not know what we are doing but we have never since 2006 and two Montana's had a black tank or galley tank odor problem/ We do use a lot of water and dump often. We are in warm to hot climates all year.Perhaps lots of water and dump often is the answer.?

When I dump, I first pull the black tank valve and let it drain as much as it will. Then pull the two grey tank valves. The grey water flows to the black tank and helps to rinse it out.
Then when the flow slows/stops, turn on the rinse. When it runs clear, turn everything off and close all valves. Calgon and cheap laundry detergent added after tank is empty. Five years in the rig about 5-6 months each and no problems or odors so far.

Mark7, your rig may sit lower to the ground than others. But the rigs with hydraulic levelers must sit higher. If I were to put a bottom drain on my tanks the effluent piping would still be 6 to 8 inches above the front landing ram foot and the same for the mid ram. I have installed a 6 inch PVC pipe just behind the landing gear ram. It's for storage of the sewer hose and it is below the drop frame but still well above the ground. Any elbow installed on the bottom of a tank would be at least 10 to 14 inches above the bottom of the storage pipe.

As for water, I am not concerned with that I am concerned with solids not being able to flow out over that lip.

Just saying is all.

Had similar odor problem, found indoor sewer vents, kitchen and bath sinks, to be the problem(sticking open?). Solution replace with better quality units or do as I did(at the suggestion of my trusted repairman)block them off all together, sinks will still vent. Had no problems with draining or more important no more odor problems.
You will still get odors if you have roof vents open and the wind is coming in the right direction.

I agree with Beau2010 only I run the rinse before dumping the grey. Either way will work and like Richfaa I use lots of water when flushing. Six years in two rigs at 6 months a year and never an odor problem.

Water pressure concern

We have a 3701LK and was concerned about the water pressure when we use the black tank flush. Should I still use our water pressure limiter when I flush the black tank in the convenience center? Or just run full pressure?

Recommend using a pressure regulator.

Full pressure = better cleaning action.

Black tank flush

I've replaced two black tanks due to my own negligence. "ALWAYS" have the drain valve open when flushing the tank. "DO NOT" think you can fill the tank and get a better flush. When filling the tank, the process will build up the air pressure ( I know, it shouldn't), and the air pressure will split the tank. Not a cheap fix if your warranty has run out. Even under warranty, the co-pay will not be fun. The warranty does not cover the shipping.

Black and Gray tank flush

You may notice that the flush valve is at the top front of the tank. The reason for this is that the bottom of the tank is sloped to the drain. I'm sure the thinking is that the liquid will flow down and clean out the tank. One small thing is over looked. The sensors or at the other end of the tank than the flush sprayer. The sprayer will not clean the sensors.

The next time I find it necessary to open up the tank area, I plan on installing an additional flush sprayer in the sensor area. Hope that that will clean the sensors. The sprayers are available on Amazon and are around $20. Sorry, just checked, $30.

I never flush the tank with the valve closed. I'm going go buy an adjustable pressure regulator. My single regular cuts the pressure way too low about 30psi. I'm thinking 60psi is a safe good pressure.

Black tank & water pressure

Went to the local plumbing supply and purchased an residential inline pressure regulator. It comes complete with a pressure gauge and adjustment screw. Works great. I keep it at 60 psi.

Anytime you run water through the units piping use a pressure regulator.

I have a 2004 3650rk and can’t find my sewer flush valve. I have hooked up to the female sewer flush connection but it does not flow and there is a warning label that I must open the sewer flush first. Is this the main black tank convenience center lever to drain the black tank? Or is it in another location.

You have found the sewer flush valve. The warning sticker is an attempt to keep you from accidentally filling the black tank due to inattention.

If the flush is not flowing water it is a safe bet the check valve has failed. It is located behind the shower or under the bathroom sink. Most of us have plumbed around it. Do a Search on flush check valve for more details.

Ok, just to be sure I got this right. The black thingy mounted to the white pex pipes under the bathroom sink (2019 Monty, 3130re) is a back flow preventer for the black tank cleaning system?

If you are building pressure in your tanks your vent is plugged. There should be a direct atmospheric vent to all tanks.
