outside scare lights

Well, I noticed what looked like rust in the lens attachment holes and got out the ladder. Yep, after two plus years, my fixtures do indeed have rust issues. Took the front right side off and serious rust causing metal backplate to corrode where the small bolts attach the lens. Had to take a dremel to those and some other areas where water sat inside. The issue - no seal of any type where the bolts go through the lens into the back plate. Suggest you guys buy some round closed cell foam at your local hardware store to put in the lens holes to seal out water. After grinding away all the corrosion, I sprayed the whole backplate with gloss white paint. Will use plumbers putty behind like factory as well as to seal the lens...then use the round close cell backer foam in the four lens holes after bolting the lens in place. John

You might find using an anti-seize grease on the screws might help prevent the corrosion better, and so you can remover the screws in the future. I also had the corrosion problem, just not as bad as you.

I fill the holes in the lens with clear silicone. It's a simple matter to force the screwdriver through it if I need to change a bulb in the future.
