Santa Claus, IN

We’re going to be visiting this area the second week of June. We will be staying at the Scales Lake Park in Boonville, IN.

I was just wondering if there is anything in that area much to see or do outside of Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN.
Is anyone familiar with the area?

In Evansville, there is a casino if so inclined. Approx. 65 miles northwest is French Lick and West Baden, IN. There is a casino there and a local winery, French Lick winery. This is a historical area and there are some interesting facts to see. During the 20's this was a vacation spot for the Chicago wealthy and the Chicago gangsters.

This site provides a map of the Indiana Wineries and there a couple in the area.

Bill and Donna, if you are staying by Boonville then the Lincoln boyhood home is not far away just east of there in the Lincoln state park and I would consider about an hour and half drive up to Spring Mill state park. Not only do they have camping there but a working old settlers village with a water wheel grist mill, several old home and buildings that was associated with the mill, one old house has a working loom which is interesting. Take a picnic lunch and spend the day there lots to see and do.
