Best 2017 Eclipse Images I've Seen

If you folks have not taken the time to peruse the pages of Nicolas Lefaudeux, you just have not lived. Check out his work at https://hdr-astrophotography.com/

I just recently ran into his work after spotting one of his images on APOD a few day back. I witnessed the eclipse last August 21 and I'll say there is nothing like real time naked eye viewing but his stuff is very close.

Guy has some awesome stuff on your link. We watched it in totality near Alma, Missouri off highway 23 at the edge of someone's cornfield. It was just hard to describe ... got chilly, got real still, no nature noises except for brief cricket chirping and a lone hoot owl only during the eclipse. We did see the "diamond ring" effect right before the sun popped back out from the moon. Although just point and shoot with nothing remotely compared to Lefaudeux, this is what I snapped during the event.

My contribution to the grand photo op was some what marred by me shifting focus when I pulled off the white light filter I had made and kluged together. We had an awesome house rented in Bell, Missouri where family and friends met. It cleared off remarkably well about 20 minutes prior to totality.

We saw totality at a campground in Smirna, TN. The campground owner gave everyone hamburgers and hot dogs and Sunkist soda and Moon Pies. Nice touch.
