Great place to eat near Shasta
Just South of Medford, Oregon is a really great place to eat. It is called Callihans, http://www.callahanslodge.com/ We ate there last week and loved it. Also in the Medford Oregon area is Jacksonville, an old gold mining town. We were visiting relatives and enjoyed the area.

And, if you are heading north (or coming from the north) on I-5, at exit 86 which is north of Grants Pass, there is a place called Heaven On Earth restaurant. We've stopped there every time we go that way. It is out in the middle of nowhere, right off the exit. The nearest town is Azalea. This place is fantastic. Good Christian folk, a warm friendly atmosphere, and food to "die" for. They have a bakery as well. What hit us when we first walked in was the brownie pans. Usually, places have them that are about 18 inches long.....these were 3 FEET long. And cinnamon rolls........SIGH!!! I've never found out for sure, but the owner may have been a truck driver. A sign says "If you bought it, a truck brought it" inside. www.heavenonearthrestaurant.com Plenty of room to park for even the biggest rig on the road! We have NEVER had anyone say they didn't like it.....yet!

We drove past that but didn't see it until we were past. The outside didn't look too appealing, but it is what's inside that counts.
We will stop next time down.

Hi this is great for us to hear. This area is was are home, before we hit the road in 07. Its so nice to hear that the area is good to visit from our extended family. We will still come back to the area when we no longer can travel. There are even more good eating and places to vist in Southern Or. We are very glad you enjoyed the one's you found.

Indeed, it does not look like much from the outside. Very non-descript. However, once inside it is plain, yet clean, organized, and appealing in a simple "old country" way. They also have a huge room off to the side where they host community events and parties. One year, coming back from a show in Medford, we stopped. They had the place all decorated inside, with Christmas trees, etc. It was very nice. They appear to be big supporters of the local community.[
