Could TPMS be cause of slow leak?
Got 4 brand new tires prior to trip. Went 700 miles with no problems. Spent a night in Mobile and by the time I got to Gulf Shores had lost 6 lbs pressure in one tire.
By the next morning it was down 13 lbs. filled it back up and left tpms off. 24 hours later it was exactly where it had been. So I replaced tpms this am and when we returned to the site tire had lost 3 lbs and two hours later a couple of more.
It is a TST system. Also I noticed when replacing the tpms in the tire I never got the little shot of air that comes with the last tightening. Could the tpms be the cause of the small leak?
I am filling it up again now and will check the tire without the tpms on again in the morning. Any experience or advice?

I think there is a gasket in the sensor that could have fallen out, also dont tighten the sensor too tight, only till you hear the air stop.

I suggest you call TST. I called once for something that turned out not to be a problem. But the customer service rep was great. They may replace the sensor, or provide new gasket(s) for it.

You didn't say, but if you didn't replace the rubber stems with metal stems, you may be leaking from a cracked stem. The vibration the sensors are subjected to will damage the stems.

They are metal stems. I wiggled the stem to see if I could here a leak and i couldn't.
Catskiner that's the other issue I never hear the air when I'm putting it on.

you might try a little soap and water on the stem and sensor and the stem at wheel?

I've had the system for years and a lot of miles and only twice have I found a sensor leaking. One had the end where you add air loose. Tightened it and it's been fine since. The other I replaced the sensor.

Years ago I had one leak on the front tire of the truck when I ran them on the truck. It just worked its way loose. I second spraying it with soapy water.

Thought I'd complete the story. After not losing any pressure for 24 hours with tpms off of stem wondered if that was the problem. But 24 and 48 hours the tire lost 2 lbs one day and three the next. Checked them the same time each morning.
Called AAA and they came and changed tire. Right in the middle of the tread was a nice thick nail deeply attached. Less than 750 miles and I find a nail. If you want safe traveling just follow me because I will find every nail on the highway.
As an aside took it in to Trax tires for a repair. They got right to it and 15 minutes later loaded it in the truck. I asked how much and they said no charge. So I tipped the guy who changed it. Nice folks!!!

Years ago I bought a new set of tires. On the wat home 6 mile trip I ran over a spark plus. And yes you guessed it plug whent right into the tire. Hole far to big to patch so had to buy another tire.
Glad you did not have to replace the tire. I deal with Discount Tires and they fix flats for free. I think a lot of chain tire stores do that?
