Refrig warm freezer ice cold

I can't get the refrig below 50. The freezer seems to be fine makes ice. There is a piece on the fins in the refrig that can be moved up anddown is this something to do with temp control? Or am i mising something. I thought it got cold on AC.

The thing on the fin is a thermistor. Thought is the more you move it towards the top the colder it will get the freezer. Not sure why the frig won't cool when the freezer is. Is your door sealing good on the frig box? You can test the seal by closing the door on a dollar bill then see if you have some resistance pulling the bill out. Test it in several locations of the door. Jim

Mine runs better on propane. Might want to switch it over and try it. I also have a dinasorar board in it which has a adjustment for temp.

The reason I asked what kind of frig you had was because I had the exact same symptoms with ours, which was a dometic and had a failed cooling unit.

Ours did that for while too, freezer cold and fridge cool and ultimately warm. In the end, both were warm. Before you start running in gas mode, go outside and remove the lower vent panel and look very close to see if there is any yellow residue. If there is, immediately turn off the fridge. Do not run until you get a qualified RV tech to look at it. The cooling fluid has ammonia in it, and is highly flammable.

I was having the same kind of thing with my single-door fridge, meat spoiling, milk going bad, etc... Turned out that the door was not fully closing at the bottom and not sealing properly.

One time, I happened to push on the bottom corner and the door moved probably about 1/4" inch in on that corner and stayed. So, now, every time I open and close the door, I just automatically push it in there with my foot.

Not sure if the door is not square, if it is the frame of the fridge box, or if something is rubbing somewhere, but that has taken care of the problem so far until I can take the time to look at it more carefully.

Had a similar issue with the Dometic on our 2015 3610rl.

We purchased took delivery in June of '14 and used it around 6 times with no fridge issues. Then on an outing saw the temp climb to 51 at around 5pm getting to 35 by morning on max setting. Took it to the dealer who had it for 4 weeks and Dometic had them set the defrost cycle to start at 3am and this supposedly will correct the issue. Won't know till the next time we go out, I'm giving strong consideration to replacing the Dometic with a residentail. Check your owners manual, it mentions the defrost cycle in there. Good luck.

Same symptoms as my refer had before going out all together. Repair guy came out and said it was the cooling unit. When the refer is working, the tubing on the back of the refer should feel warm. The refer heats to cool. He said that he could replace the cooling unit, but because it was an older model that the cooling unit could go out again, no warranty. I opted to wait until I got home to repair. Had extended warranty. Got a new refer installed.Finished out the trip from a ice chest. Also the repair guy said that that problem could occur if you are using propane and the bunker tube is blocked. Spiders get in there and web it up.

Something I have learned about the Dometic 1350 is that after the initial start up/power up it will go into the FIRST defrost cycle 60 hours after that time and then defrost regularly every 48 hours after that.

So in order to have your defrost cycles happen during nighttime hours you need to do the initial start up at say 2, 3, or 4 o'clock in the afternoon so the initial defrost will happen at 2, 3, or 4 AM some 60 hours later. After that defrost it will defrost at every 48 hour interval until you shut the fridge off.

Once you shut your fridge power off you must go through the same process again to get it to cycle at night.

Same issue we are having with our Dometic 1350. Everything is heating properly but frig will not come down below 50 and freezer is fine.

We take delivery of a new Samsung RF18HFENBBC frig which is the only one that will fit in the opening which is 33" wide and 72" tall. We will have to remove the lower drawer and retrim the top as the actual face of the unit is 70" with a 2" hood on the back top.

The new unit cost $1,150 plus delivery and tax. A new Amish cooling unit is between $700 and $1,000 plus shipping.

No brainer on this end, regardless of what guarantees come with new unit as this will happen again for sure.
