Water Heater Controls - 2007 3400RL
Unit is new to me this year. Trying to figure out the controls on the water heater. WH is a suburban 10 gallon with gas and electric with electronic ignite. (SW10DE)
Trying to figure out how to control it. There is a heater switch on the water monitor panel inside, and a switch inside the outside cover by the burner.
Like to understand how to switch between gas & electric.
Thanks for your help folks.

The switch inside the outside cover should be on/off switch for the electric. I have always left it on. On your inside panel, there should be a switch to turn on electric [only turn on when tank is full] and propane. On our 2005, pushed the switch up or down for electric or propane. Cannot remember which was which but a red light came on indicating propane.

On our 2007 3075RL the inside switch is for propane. On the outside (inside the WH grill) on the water heater itself is a switch for electric. If we are staying at one place more than a couple days I turn both on to get faster recovery rate, especially if DW is using the washer/dryer.

I leave the outside switch in the "off" position unless I am in place, hooked up, and water flowing. I turn it off as soon as I disconnect my water hose and my power cable. Think of that outside switch as a "safety" switch. If you left it "on", the tank was empty, and you hit the electric switch inside while plugged in, you would fry your heater element in a matter of moments. (So I've been told.)

There is no inside electric switch on a 2007 3400RL. As mentioned previously by BB_TX, outside switch is electric, inside switch is propane.
