2007 Montana High Country A/C heater problem

On our 2007 High country, When you click on the heater, the a/c and heater comes on, this just started this year. Is this a thermostat problem or something else? Thanks

I think you have to have the fan on auto for the heater to run without the A/C.

I just realized you probably don't have the new dual zone thermostats.
