Non-working Electrical Outlets

2002 Montana camper (not a fifth wheeler) 33.5 . Some of the electrical outlets inside stopped working, breakers are ok, some of the non-working outlets are in each end of camper as well as the ones in the middle where the TV is located. Suspect a GFI has been tripped but the only one I've been able to locate is in the bathroom and it's ok, is there another one that I can't find ? or is there some other reason ?

Mine also has one in the basement and another in the kitchen.

If the outlet is controlled by a GFCI circuit it should indicate that on the outlet with a sticker that says it is GFI protected. We have only one that can be reset, that is in the bathroom, and it does control any other outlets that are marked as protected. The one in the storage compartment is not protected on ours, but the one on the outside wall is. The one on our Kitchen island is protected as is the other one on the wall near the other end of the Island. The one at the back of the stove is not protected.

There should be no reason an outlet for the TV would be protected by GFCI. The only ones typically protected are those that are near a source of water. There is a possibility that the breaker itself may have gone bad but that is not typical either but does happen. I would assume you have switched each breaker off then back on again as sometimes just looking at them does not indicate they have tripped.

No two of these Montana's seem to have been wired the same, even in the same model, so sometimes it is hard to determine where the problem lies.

Another possibility is either a connection on the load side of a breaker has come loose, or at the rear of an outlet, a connection has come loose. If you are lucky, it's at a breaker, but if not, it will take a little detective work, removing outlet covers looking for a disconnected wire. Just be careful, and make sure you have all power turned off when sticking fingers into outlet boxes.

Does your rig have slides outs, and are there junction boxes on the outside of the unit below the side out? If so, open them and see if you have water and/or corrosion inside?

Before you open those junction boxes, disconnect the power to the rig. There is live 120 volt current in there.

I had a similar electrical problem recently. I had random outlets throughout the camper not working and no breakers were tripped. I checked power to all of my breakers and only half of the breakers had power to them, which was weird. My problem ended up being the power cord. One of the 120V circuits in the cord were not working. Somehow one side of the cord had an open circuit. It had me puzzled for a few days, south ought I'd share! Good luck!

Yes, I've checked breakers, and I do have slide outs but don't know if I have junction boxes under them or not. Stoehr00 are you saying the main power cord (30) ? DQDick what do you mean by basement ?

Must of us call your storage area in the front a basement, and yes you would be unusual if you don't have juction boxes under your slides.
