Where not to stay at Lake Almanor, CA

Don't even think of staying at North Shore Campground at Lake Almanor. Worst place I have ever stayed. I was so upset with their rules and policies that I pulled out after 2 weeks even though I had paid for 4 weeks. Why?

One they only have water and elect. yes they will pump you out once a week for free but it is $10 for another pump.

Two, the wiring is so old that they have to do rolling blackouts when it get a little warm not even hot.

Three, they wanted to charge me $15 so my son and grandaughter could visit for a hour. My grandaugters are two and five.

Four, they patrol the park hourly to find who might be breaking the rules.

All in all a very unfiendly place.

We will never return and will advise others not also.

Talk about MEAN! That park management makes Scrooge look good. Anyone who has enough time to patrol hourly to catch the "bad people" needs to spend some of that time upgrading the park facilities. That situation reminds me of students who are at my desk all the time telling on other students and not taking care of their own business.

Mean! Mean! Mean!

By the way, Don, I want to thank you again for the wonderful cookbook and rally book you did for the 7 Feathers rally. You're a real pro, of course, but you are a GENEROUS real pro! Beautiful work.
Carolyn

Addendum: After going to the park web site and seeing the endless rules, regulations, must do this, can't do that stuff, I think you definitely got tangled up with some mean, controlling people. I have never seen so many negatives on any RV park site (negatives being the can'ts, don'ts, musts . . . ). Were you allowed to BREATHE without getting permission?

It must be horrible for our friends, Howard and Linda Payne (rv-dreams.com), having to enforce those rules....

North Shore Campground Rules

How do other parks make it without all of those rules, might be something for the management to consider?

Don, sure sorry about your bad experience.

Actually most campgrounds I go to have a long list of rules. Maybe at this one some of the costs are a little high, but I try and find these out before hand so I know what to expect.

At that place known brownouts would make me angry. Whatever the price, if the brownouts are that bad, I would use my generators and discuss a discount if they did not warn me of this ahead of time or even leave. This would be a good reason not to recommend a CG especially since many RVers have not invested in the devices to ward against brownouts.

If anyone asked me if I prefer more patrols than less, I would prefer more. My assumption is that a campground that provides more patrols probably had reasons in the past to warrant it. Since I do nothing wrong, I have nothing to fear. If I have issue with any of their policies or conditions, I leave.

I hope you have better luck at other places.
