Burned to the Ground
One of our new members, don't recall the log in name, lost their 07 3400RL to a fire last night. They were not home and came back to find it burned to the ground. They were at Hanscom AFB in Bedford MA, where quite a few hardy folks winter over.
It's a real shame they are real nice folks and had most of their worldly possessions in the unit. I don't know the cause of the fire, just got a cryptic note this morning. It did say their camping days are over.
Bad things happen to good people.

This is a terrible thing to have happen. We've always been concerned about what could happen. Everything we own is right here with us. It seems like these things happen to RVers sort of often and makes one wonder if there is something we need to do to prevent it from happening.

Our thoughts go out to these people. It's a tragic loss indeed, and hopefully after a few days of shock they will understand that these are just possessions that to a great degree can just be replaced.

This is too tragic! Try as we may, there are so many things that can still go wrong. While it's very little to console their loss, it's a mixed blessing they weren't there.
Who knows what would have happened then - could they have helped or could it have turned out so much worse. I know I think about this all the time when I see the "emergency" windows on my rig and hope I never have to try and use it.
We can only hope and pray that they overcome their loss and continue on very quickly.
God Bless them.

Who were they????? We are always concerned about that. As some of you know this 3400 came to within a few seconds of going up and we have seen a couple of campers burn. It is fast and not pretty. We have conditioned ourselves to at the fist sign of smoke to bail out..fast.
I hope everyone has thought about what they would do in case of a fire and run the drill.

I think this is my biggest fear. I am going out tomorrow and get me more fire extinguishers. I already have a sign on the front window in regards to "Pets aboard". My heart truly goes out to these folks or any body else in the same situation. I hope we can find out the cause of this tragic event. Is it possible that a fund has been established to help these folks? Please let us know, we need to help these people........Those of us that can.......

What a shock! So sorry to hear of this. We are thankful that they were not injured. But to lose so much of your worldy possessions is a terrible loss. If there is anything we can do please let us know.

This is not the kind of story a person enjoys reading when logging onto the forum. It’s fortunate that they were not there when it happened. It may have been a great blessing that they were gone at the time. The main thing is they are all right; the camper and their possessions are only temporal material things that can be replaced. It’s truly a blessing that they are all ok; I would like to see them post their story and stay with the forum.

Wishing them nothing but the best of outcomes and feel sad for their loss. We also have most of our stuff with us as well, but it only stuff. Keep us posted and we should all learn from this, have a fire exit plan and stay safe. It was a blessing they were NOT in it.

Fire is the the natural/unnatural thing I fear the most when it comes to loss. I feel so bad for these folks! I hope they had adequate insurance and have a good agent to take care of them.

So sad for these folks. The loss of everything is not something anyone would, or should have have to endure. Prayers are with them and as everyone says, I hope they had good insurance.
Anyone heard from them as far as how they are coping?
