So sorry to hear of your loss. It is always so difficult when you loose a parent. Tom Brokow was right to term his generation as "The Greatest Generation". So many fought for our freedom and present way of life. They lived among us, but never bragged about what they had done. When my Uncle passed last year and I attended his funeral, I learned many things for the first time. He had earned a purple heart in the "Battle of the Buldge". He was a modest man in so many ways, but he was a real hero in my book.

We're sorry for your loss. My dad was a WWII vet also. We lost him 13 years ago and I think of him often. They were all true heros.

Tom,
Sorry to hear of your dad passing. Semper Fi (always faithful) to him and prayers for your family. At an Army roll call for a deseased soldier, I learned the phrase, "He has transferred to a higher command."
Remember the good times.

Tom,

It is great that you see your dad as a hero. Sounds like his greatest heroism came after leaving the corps. You fond memories will assuage your grief.

Tom,

I believe God takes special care of our soldiers, Marines and other veterans. We also never forget Heroes, since they live forever in our hearts and minds and deeds. Thanks for your very personal and profound story about your father's passing.

I give salute to your father and clasp my hands in prayer for you and your family as he passes on to a better place. God Bless you all.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my day last year, also a Marine with the 2nd Marine Division during WWII.

Semper Fi and rest in peace.
