Finally got another mod done
Following the excellent advice of many forum members, I managed to take a break from the daily beach and food duties here at Myrtle Beach and get the vertical cabinet door struts installed. Pre-drilling the holes was key as mentioned on the forum. DW loves the mod since we no longer have to hold the door up while accessing the contents. We did use the CW metal 6 1/4" struts with the single mounting screw in the base so we will have to see how they work over time. Got all eight vertical cabinets done over the course of the last two mornings and am very satisfied with the results. Thank you MOC for the how-to prowess!!

I was hoping when our '13 model came in they would have finally added these struts, but no such luck.

We use that space for long term storage, so I probably won't remember, but someone who has the problem please bring it up to Keystone at the Rally.

I don't understand what the heck their problem is! Even the old Challenger has these struts!! Now understand, the origininals didn't last very long because, they were cheap spring loaded things but, a brief visit with Darrell rectified that issue and haven't had one since in 5 years.

We only have one of those doors, but it is right over the kitchen cabinet next to the range and we use it a lot. Finally added a strut last spring. So much easier to access that cabinet now.

Probably ran out of stock on the supports so the Old Craftsman, not the spanish ones, forgot to reorder and they eventually forgot about them.

Could be phil, but knowing keystone, I would be more apt to believe that they were more likely some cheap quality struts that required frequent replacement (perhaps under warranty) and by forgetting them, they saved a bundle on warranty payouts to dealers.
