King pin tripod

I used to use a King Pin Tripod on my older Montana. It did help with stability a bit in the bedroom of that older unit that only had front landing gear and stability jacks on the rear.

My new rig has 6 point leveling and so far feels very solid.

Just wondering how many of you use the tripods and what benefit there would be too them?

I ditched the tripod years ago ... ended up giving it away as I couldn't find any cash paying takers. After I installed my JT Stabilizers ... the tripod was a waste of time and space. I'd say with Level Up ... the same conclusion would hold true.

I think the two legged stand reduced more wiggle than the tripod but I have not used one on my newer unit with six way leveling system. I would like to add a couple of rear stabilizers as I am not super impressed with the six way leveling system othe than I really like it for its self leveling ability. If you still have your tripod try both with it and without it. Worst case is actually carrying it around with you.

Like most newbie's we started out with one and when someone wanted to buy it we couldn't sell it fast enough. Been seven years and two rigs without one.

With the rubber shock in the MorRyde pinbox, there would be no appreciable improvement.

We've never used one, but one comment I would like to make is that our new Monty is much more stable than our previous (SOB) trailer. We don't notice as much movement as we move around the trailer.

We had a neighbor one winter in Florida who was obsessed with trying to stabilize his fifth wheel (a Laredo). He had supports everywhere. He still had movement. I read somewhere that you cannot prevent all movement of the trailer unless you get it off the tires (like jack it up onto blocks), because the tires have give in them.

This is a discussion that comes up occasionally on whatever forum you wander. From what I have seen, most of those that have had the tripods seldom have them now with the few folks that still have them think they are great.

I just use a second set of BAL mechanical jacks while we are in our summer site, placed just in front of the door as well as on the opposite side. They were a dirt cheap super special purchase and work fairly well. I don't carry them when we travel though as the wiggle just isn't enough to bother.

I also use a pair of BAL X-Chocks to limit back and forth tire flex and movement. We had cross braces on our last SOB 5er's landing gear that worked better but this 5er is too low in front at that non level summer site to use them.

With the flexibility built into these RVs frames, I'm not sure that even putting the unit up on blocks or foundation, raising the tires off the ground will stop all wiggle

Maybe we have had Rv's for to long or spend to much time in them but with the 6 point leveling system we do not notice any movement. We also have the Mor Ryde Is that eliminates the entire OEM suspension system.

True, but it would be a topic of conversation in camp.
