I just installed braces inside the space where the old tv was. I installed the new tv with a wall mount on the braces. I am able to lock down the tv with the flush wall mount. I can take down the tv to have access the the back in the open space. My surround sound, dvd, and satellite receiver are in the cabinet above with all my wires in the opening behind the tv. Hope this helps.

Awesome install job!!! I have been wanting to update to a larger tv for some time now and that is just the picture I needed, guess I will be making a trip to Best Buy today. =) This is another area I feel that Keystone could update, use a larger & nicer tv and of course don't forget to upgrade the surround sound as well. Maybe, just maybe this picutre will help push Keystone to start going to better electronics in the Montana. =)

Very nice! I really don’t watch much television when I camp, but this certainly makes me think…

Of course, I can hear Marsha now and she is the one who likes the television when we are camping! Ouch!

TV looks awesome.great up-grade.I would love to do the same thing with mine. This RCA TV has go to go.Could you give a little more detail on where you put the braces. Are they bolted on the side or floor of that cabinet space? And i`am guessing the wall mount for the TV is on the braces?

Great job on the install.

How dare you put this idea in my head. We just recently got a 52" for the living room in stick house. Now wife wants a new flat screen for the bedroom and now this. When will it stop. Hope you take this tongue in cheek as it is meant to be.

Charlie,
I used 1x6 cut 2 to go vertical spaced out to fit wall bracket. Then I cut 2 to go horizontal on the back of the first two. I used (4) 2 3/4 in framing angles they use for stairs and (8) 1 1/2 x 5/8 angle brackets. This all butted up against the inside of the framing around the old tv. I did all my measuring based on that Sony flat panel. I found many that would not work as well because of the depth and the location of the wire inputs. I used shims when needed to bring the wall mount out flush. I hope this will help. I wish I had taken pictures as I went, but I didn't. Here is a picture of the wall I used.

Charlie, do you have the model number for the Sony and where did you find it? Did you also get the wall mount at the same place?

Charlie,

Can you take some pics of the back of your tv? I, too, want to upgrade the tv. First of all, it is less weight, and most of all, it is a better quality picture. I was thinking of using some brackets on the outside of the tv, but I like your install - very nice!

Recently we did a tour of some motorhomes and trailers (Our Montana still looks good!) In one motorhome we saw a flat screen TV that was mounted on a door so it could be moved for better viewing, plus the cupboard behind it was accessable. Might be an idea for installing one???

I'm sure it could be done. You would need very strong hinges and bracing, though. And a solid locking mechanism that was strurdy enough for travel, without looking to conspicuous.

I just thought of something... How about if you made hinges on it that swung UP - maybe with a small wooden frame around the unit, with two of those small gas struts we were talking about on our basement doors? I think they were strong enough... Also, with the hinges on the top, there would be less pressure on the hinges while bouncing down the road. Run the wires along the top of the cabinent to keep them out of the way so you could have more useable storage space behind.

Just a thought.

If you think about the flat tv. I have a 36" SHARP AQUIS LC on the den wall. The darn thing only weight about 30 pounds wife liked it so well we got the same brand slightly smaller in the bed room. It weigh's 25# both are light enough to move from the stick house to the Montana, any time you travel. Just snap it in the bracket and your good to go. really light and easy to move. You could kill TWO BIRD'S WITH ONE STONE so to speak.

John, with the type on wall mounting bracket I used it is real easy to remove the tv. And the weight makes it really easy. The bracket locks down tight with no movement when on the road.

Charlie,
The framing angles and brackets are throwing me off. Could you please be more specific on how you secured the tv bracket to the space where your old tv went?

Also, could you tell me how you removed the old tv? I have the exact same setup as yours with the fireplace below.

thanks tons.
