Satellite finder app

I have two. One on iphone one on Android. They seem to be 5-15 degrees different in the location of the satellites. Does anyone have any information in this regard?? I have been in areas with trees with gaps, and the apps show one or more satellites visible, but i still can't get the connection.
Thanks for anything you can say.

I use the Winegard Sat Finder app. Can use the camera of your phone to see the locations of the Sats. Works for DirecTV, Dish, Bell, and Shaw, also has an OTA station locator.

Tom,

Most likely you either have a heading error in one of your phones or the variation is wrong in one of the phones. The sat finder knows the true heading to the sats based on where it is and converts the true heading to magnetic heading based on the magnetic variation of your location. The variation in Phoenix is 10 E if you are trying to do this at home.

Thank you for mentioning about the Winegard TV search app. I just downloaded the app and have added it to my camping folder on my phone.
