Vent covers

Have a questions for my fellow Moc'ers. How many of you have the Maxx Air Roof Vent Covers and do they work over the Fantastic auto vents like we have in the kitchen area of our Monte? Thinking of purchasing three of the vents but on would cover the Fantastic vent and wondering if it would interfere with the opening of that vent. Do you have the Maxx Air Vent brackets also?

I have them on 2 vents but not on the 2 Fantastic vents. They work well but I was advised not to put them over the Fantastic vents.
They do a good job of ventilating.

I have 2 + a MaxxAir Fan (no fantastic fan). I wish the brackets to allow them to swing away had been available when I installed ours. I think they are a must to keep the screens clean (too much trouble to clean from the inside).

There is a Maxxair for the Fantastic vent. One had been put on my Montana when I bought it. Works fine. Saw them at the dealers showroom later and the tag stated $90 installed.

I believe the model 800 (white) or 900 (black) work with the fantastic fans. We have 3 vents on our Big Sky, two are Fantastic Fans, the other is a tiny puck sized fan in a regular vent. We can use the regular Maxxair on the bathroom vent and the 800s on the two Fantastics...Dave and Betsy

My covers work on the fantastic fan with no problems. The vent cover opens up and does not contact the shroud.

We use the covers for two vents and not the FF. When traveling, we keep the vents open that have the MaxxAir covers and it keeps the rig cool and aired out. Also, when we are out for the day, it keeps the rig ventilated nicely. We don't have the need to cover the FF.

I have two FF in mine..(one was there and I had one put in the bdrm) they worked really well in the last rig....the salesguy said that they do not put hood covers over the FF as it interferes with the complete opening of the fan covers.....

We have 2 vents and 2 FF. During our PDI, I told the Tech I had salvaged the 2 vent covers off the TT I traded-in and asked what he thought about buying 2 more for the FF. Citing the FF have rain sensors and will automatically close when it starts raining, it was his opinion it would be a waste of $$.

The dealer told me when I bought mine that the larger MaxxAir vent was for the Fantastic Fan. The other, wedge shaped one, does not provide enough airflow for the FF. With 2 A/Cs, I only have one other vent for the regular MaxxAir cover. I think they are a must to prevent the factory covers from tearing up due to the UV.

One vent was replaced by the second A/C unit in the bedroom. That leaves three vents, one of which is the Fantastic Fan. All three of mine have the MaxAir covers installed by the dealer as a condition of sale. All three are working well with no interference on the FF.

I also have one like mudchief on my one FF the big wedge one and it works just fine. It does not seem to restrict airflow. I have the small ones on all others. bobby

We've had the maxxair covers on ours for the the last several fifthwheels. We use the maxxair made for the high flow powered vents. Same one VanMan and others mentioned. The lid does not open as far as without the vent but airflow is plenty strong for us. I do believe it is slightly diminished, though, because the cover does not fully open. But the tradeoff of being able to use the vent even in the rain is worth it to us. Same with the regular vents.

From Fantastic
-----------------------
Q. DO YOU RECOMMEND VENT COVERS?
A. Vent covers restrict the airflow of your Fan-Tastic Vent by about sixty percent. In addition, covering your vent requires more frequent cleaning due to dust and dirt accumulation. Although we do not recommend any cover over your Fan-Tastic Vent, it will not void your warranty.

We have the maxx air vent covers on the non FF vents...There is model that fits over the FF. However we are told it would interfere with the auto close in case of rain function????. The purpose of the vent covers was to keep rain out of the camper with the vent open. The FF with auto close made the vent covers obsolete ??? or did I miss sometghing..???

I talked to Fantastic Vent people in Imlay City, MI and asked them if it was okay to use the standard MaxxAir covers over the Fantastic fan. Their answer is no. Although the vent may open without hitting the shroud of the MaxxAir, the MaxxAir cover doesn't permit enough air to flow out its vents when the Fantastic Fan is set to High. There's a possibility of overheating of the motor of the fan when the air cannot escape fast enough.
