Grand Canyon Area
Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for the rv parks around Williams Arizona? We expect to be there at the end of May.

That's a good place to stay, you can take the train into the Grand Canyon and they also have kennels there for any pets you may have with you.

I only know about the North Rim, as we get there the 22nd for the summer, I work for Forever Resorts. The Public camp grounds our forested and the forestry keeps them very clean. So if you want to see the North side that would be the place to stay.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park. If you have a pet they have a pet resort where you can leave you pet (for a fee) while you tour. If you have dogs make sure the shots are up to date.

Richard,
Check out Rod's Steakhouse right in Williams. We had a great steak there. It has a big steer in the front of the restaurant.

We also stayed at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park for 5 days last fall and paid something like $19/day with the Passport America card. Unbelievable deal!

We also recommend the Grand Canyon Railway Park. I think my most memorable experience (besides the Grand Canyon) was the restaurant within walking distance next to the train station that had an all you can eat buffet breakfast with some pretty good food including BACON. All you can eat BACON! What more can a guy ask for?

I just drove to the South Rim. I took the road out of Williams. It is a very good two lane road. It is straight very easy to take a rv there. They have a very nice campground, full hook ups and pull throughs for large Rv,s at the South rim. I do not remember the name,it is the only one there,it is a large campground. Get there early you should not have a problem getting a spot. Next time I will take the RV and spend the night and see the sunset. I drove up from Black Canyon City AZ for the day.( I know you asked about Williams, but I thought I would mention this to you. )

Richard, we stayed in a koa about 5 miles North of Williams on the highway to the Grand Canyon. Very quiet. Pretty basic, gravel sites, but it had all the amenities. That was in Nov 2016. Very nice and would stay there again. We saw the rv park next to the train station but I wasn't sure about the noise. Years ago we took the train ride and it also was worth the time and $.

Last year we stays at the KOA 5 miles or so north of Williams. Its Ok - our site was not very level and on the end of row next to their septic tank which overflowed because a pump had tripped. To be fair, the owner came out quickly and worked to fix the pump. Overall I am not a big fan of KOA's - they charge too much IMHO. I did consider staying at the campground in Williams (it has a great view of the Grand Canyon train) - but keep in mind its also near to the mainline railroad (BNSF I think) and they will come through all day and night - its a busy line. It may disturb your sleep. If I remember correctly, it was still about 1 hr drive from the KOA up to South Rim. Hope this helps.

I stayed at the G/C railway park and the folks were so nice. Williams is a nice town People are friendly. I drove to the canyon and took the shuttle around the canyon. It took most of the day. Had a great time. Also went to Sedona and took a ride in the pink Jeeps. it is a beautiful place. Another day trip
