New Member With 2011 Montana 3455 SA
Hello to all,
We recently purchased a 2011 3455 SA and the photo was taken at the first rest area after leaving the dealer.
It came with a MorRyde hitch which did reduce some "chucking" but the ride home (about 100 miles) was really uncomfortable with the up and down bumping transmitted to the truck from the trailer.
After reading a ton of post here regarding this I decided to order a Reese Airborne pin box and I sure hope this will help smooth the ride and replacing the MorRyde isn't a mistake. My son is coming over tomorrow after church to help me install the new pin box.
I had added Firestone air bags to the truck and with 30 PSI in them they leveled out the truck and trailer and did help smooth out the ride somewhat.
The hitch is a Pullrite Superglide and it sure does work well when backing into a spot.

Most chucking is caused by the pin weight being too light. When it's loaded, did anything change?

I noticed that the chucking was reduced some after the trailer was loaded with the basic items we will be carrying but I also found another issue that I need to contact Pullrite about.
The Pullrite RAM puck system adapter has a large mounting nut at each corner that is adjusted to remove play in each mount. I noticed that they start to loosen after towing around 50 miles which allows the mount to start moving up and down. When you start the hitch assembly will tilt rearward a small amount and when you stop it will tilt forward a small amount. As you can imagine, this adds to the chucking.
There is no way to lock the adjustment nuts in place so I'm guessing this will always be a problem with this adapter.

not enough truck
I have the same year and model # Montana you purchased. I towed it with my 2011 Chevy 3500 srw long bed truck for a little while. I have since moved to a 2014 gmc dually and the difference in the towing experience has changed dramatically for the better. In my option your monty is to heavy for your swr pick up. The camper no longer controls the truck. The truck controls the camper with way more stability.

I pulled our 2010FL with our Ram with a adapter frame under our Reese 20K hitch and had nothing but horrible chucking and noise. I switched to a Companion hitch for the RAM and man , no chucking or noise. Those adapters that have to be adjusted are a big pain.

I have a 2010 3455SA. I also have the Mor/Ryde pinbox. From the picture you posted, your rig appears to me to be a tad nose high. I think if it's possible to level it out a bit, your chucking may be minimized somewhat. You may just need more weight on the pin. The Airborne is a nice hitch, but may not be necessary in your case. Also what beeje says may be part of it. The 3455SA is a heavy Montana.

I have a 2012 3455SA and have towed with a 2008 F250 and now a 2013 Ram 3500 SRW and a Reese 18K slider. I have never had an issue with chucking or bounce, although I did have timbrens on the F250. I have a combo washer in the front which adds some pin weight. I also never tow with a full fresh water tank as this tank is in the rear behind the axles and would add a lot of weigh to the rear and lighten the pin weight. Could that be some of your problem along with being nose high?

Was there suppose be castle nuts and cotter keys on the mounting bolts. Should be able to snug it down pretty tight and put a cotter key thru it.

I agree that there should be castle nuts and cotter keys on the mounting bolts but there are not. There is no way to mechanically lock the adjustments in position.
