Prices I got for the G614 tires. So far...

Not sure how some of you have managed to get credit for your old tires, but everyone said they would not take the old tires, even though mine are new.

All prices shown are for 5 tires...

First stop was Goodyear, the tire was $343. plus the other stuff came to $1,933.

Second stop was CW, the tire was $304. plus the other stuff came to $1,575.

Third stop was LazyDays where I bought 2 Montana's, the tire was $339. plus the other stuff came to $2,041.

There are a couple of guys locally that sell used tires and I will see what they offer me for my old tires. But I would not want them to touch my RV, if you get my drift...

Final Update - I am now the proud owner of the G-614's....Bought them at CW.

Scott

You might consider having a look at the Goodyear G949 which has steel sidewalls and then compare the specs with the G614. Your tire dealer may have some comments about both. I'm not sure how the prices stack up against one another.

Thanks for the tip. I looked them up, they are an E rated tire only good for 3,047. My current Mara-bombs are 3,450. Looking to get the G-rated which has a 3,750 load rating.

I would jump at the CW price, especially if that is for 5 tires. We paid $1900 for 5 G614's in December when in Arizona. I asked about any credit for the old tires and they said they couldn't. Ended up taking the old tires, which were in excellent condition and giving them to the son-in-law to use on a much lighter trailer.

Scott, Some have had luck putting them on Craigslist. Farmers really love them for their farm trailers beacause of their load rating. Jim

I just had 5 G614's installed last week on my new Monty. they only had 2 short trips on them. I gave $315. mounted and balanced, $25. for new valve stems. Had some labor and shop cost. Gave me $125. for my marathons. Total for me was $1160. out the door. Been doing business with this dealer for a long time. felt like I could not pass this up. I think Goodyear helped him out some.

I would call Goodyear customer service and ask about the trade in. It's worked for some of us and not for others. I told them I'd rather deal with them now than when we were talking about damages since my rig is so heavy. Selling to farmers is the next best option. They put them on hay wagons etc and if they blow it's a slow speed issue, but since they don't ever build up highway heat they seem to do ok in farm applications.

As DQDICK stated, call Goodyear Customer Service and tell them you are afraid to take your RV out on any long trips due to numerous complaints about the Marathon tire blowing out and doing extensive damage to the RVs. Many RV enthusiasts have been very happy when Goodyear stepped up and paid the damage and arranged for trade in on new G614s but you want to be pro active and work out a trade before your RV is damaged. Here is their contact information: Goodyear Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-321-2136. We’re available Monday - Friday 8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m. ET

I know some may disagree, but I am only having Lazy Days put 4 G-614 tires on. I won't do the spare. I figure I can put the Marathon on for a spare and get me to where I can get my G-614 replaced. By only doing 4 you will cut your cost down some.

I'll be doing the same as JandC when I get rid of the Marathons. I won't be rotating it in so that's a lot of weight and money hanging back there.

I did email Goodyear and there response was, I need to find a Goodyear truck dealer. That was it. I'm going to have to call on Monday and see what they say. Thanks for the number Doberman.

I have to think about that 4 tires vs 5. That would save some money. Not sure if I want to go that route, but good food for thought!

Thanks for the farming idea, there's are lot of them here. All I know is, I'm NOT letting anybody take the tires for a disposal and a fee!!!

Keep the ideas coming!

Scott

Hi

You may want to check into the Firestone TransForce tire. Some people are having good luck with them. I put them on the TV 50,000 miles ago and haven’t had any problems.

Whatever you do make sure they are balanced correctly us the “lug centric” balance system.

When I contacted Goodyear they said we were all over loading our RV's causing the issue and that the tire was rated for the weight on the unit. I told them I would like to take some clothing with me and water.

If not for my dealer I would not have received the break I did. Spoke with 3 different folks at Goodyear with the honey approach. Maybe Keystone should think about what we are having to go through before putting these on. Had to change out my china bombs on my Cougar before my Monty as one of them blew with 4 thousand miles on them and did $8500. damage to the kitchen side. changed these early as I did not want to go through this. Luck to all. Joe

what's up? if you want the G614s, get the best price and just get the tires and give them your tires. that's what most of us did.

I put LT tires on but I too only did the 4 on the road. I figured as long as the spare Marathon held air it would be good enough to get me to a tire dealer for replacement. Beside even though there is a slight difference in size it won't bother anything till I can get a new LT tire on. Besides since I have been running LT tires I have never had to use the spare lol lol ....now ya went and jinxed me lol lol where's some wood?? Also have you checked for a Discount Tire in your area??? They deal with Goodyear but I think the G614's they would have to order. I have had pretty good luck dealing with them.

Keystone needs to get on the Band Wagon as many of their competitors are starting to use the 614s as the OEM tire.

This approach worked for me, I worked directly with Goodyear and got (5) 614's for a little over $1300.00

I just sent an e-mail to Goodyear asking if they would offer a trade up credit for our almost new 2014 ST235/80R16Es towards a set of G614s. Hoping for the same response as Billorn

I sent an email to them and all I got was, contact a Goodyear truck dealer. Nothing about even taking my old tires. I will try and call them tomorrow.
