MOVED THE TOILET

For the last two years, I have threatened to move the toilet back to gain some much needed KNEE ROOM. Somehow my units toilet was about 5 inches from the back wall, which resulted in my knee's just about hitting the wall, when CATALOG time arrived.
MUDCHIEF, OZZ, STEVE R. All agreed sometime back that the toilets could be moved further back to provide the USER a little more leg room. Attached are the pictures of the MOVE. I hope that the pictures might help someone else gain some leg room...

I know there are a lot of picture's, but I think it will help when moving... NOW IT'S CATALOG TIME. ho ho ho Later John

Well john i have been thinking about moving it back but mine is only 2 1/2" from wall but i want to cut into wall and make a panel in the back wall , have you opened it up yet to see if there is a vent pipe there , if no vent i could move maybe 4" back and then in the top put a linen cab in that space also and get rid of the small shelf john

John - Now that's an improvement! I didn't even give a thought that it could be moved. I just know I can't read in there as I can't move the book far enough away. I either move toilet or get new glasses.

BTW - can we refer to this project as John's john?

JOHN'S """JOHN""""" sounds just GREAT Brad, you would be amazed how much difference that few inches make. And John Tiffany to answer your questions. I have the 3650RK and the rear wall is fireplace, tv cabinet and also Vent to roof, so I could not modifiy to gain anymore room. Now if I were OZZ or MUDCHIEF I would have figured out how to put a full jacuzzi in there, of course you know MUDCHIEF and OZZ have both purchased ROOM STRETCHERS FROM ACME TOOL COMPANY and all their power tools are BENFORD 500's from TOOL TIME. ho ho ho I hope the picture's help those who have been pondering on the STOOL MOVE... Later John

Brad, I think that is a good name for the project.

John, You did a great job. Being that Ozz and I are close by and you have this still fresh in your mine. Maybe we could bring our units over and we could have a John, John moving party.

Good job John, on the john.!

We are both short people so have not had a need to move the stool but would have been nice to have a little more room in there.
I am sure this will help many people improve the space in there.

John, great modification. Decided to check my Monty out and see if I can do it. Looks like I can move it back about 3" and that will leave a 1/2" space. Checked the basement and looks doable, cut some pipe and add some new. Then checked under the toilet and there is water on the floor. Took the front cover off and the cover over the flush valve, could not see a leak so tightened every thing I could and will keep checking back. I wonder how long it would have leaked if you had not posted your mod.

Thanks,
Dick

John, with the move back and closer to the fireplace, you should also have toasty buns in the winter time.

That is a great thought ROGUE... I am going to check out your theory this winter and let you know how it goes. I do know for sure that I can use a larger catalog for research........I think this modification should go down in HISTORY as a great deed for MANKIND. I would be willing to teach the amish craftsman my cunning ability to move """JOHN'S""" to fit the customer ho ho ho later John

Great improvement. Since I am not very good at the plumbing activity, could you provide a few photos on the drain pipe in the garage. How did you rerun the drain pipe? I think I will tackle this one during the lull between my last trip and storing for the winter.

It gets pretty cold in Indiana

It would seem given adequate time, there would be several stool movements across the MOC.

Maybe the next generation of commodes can be adjustable like our car seats?? fwd and back + height, backrest. The plumbing can be flexible. They can slide forward to clean behind them and then slide back for proper legroom.

Good job, John! My legs are shorter than yours so the current location is not a problem for me. Thanks for the pictures. That really helps see exactly what you did.

Rldriver, we also had a leak in that area until I tightened the radiator-style clamp around the center of the toilet. A screwdriver would not get it tight enough so I had to use a socket. That stopped the leak.

Thanks Steve I will give it a try. I guess I need to pull out the directions and figure out what that band is for.

Happy camping
