weight of foam mattress

Wife just asked if the bed plywood will hold the weight of us and a new foam mattress. I told her I would have to ask on this site as I have no idea.

Most construction grade plywood is rated for a minumum of 75 Pounds per square foot loading (depends on support spacing). For example, 6 ft by 4 ft bed = 24 sq. ft x 75 = 1800 pounds divided by a safety factor of 2, therefore that means that your bed should support at least 900 pounds of uniform load. I don't think you will have a problem. No warranty or guarantees provided however. Worse case if it seems to be taking point loading is to thicken up the plywood.

Our short queen (isoform) was shipped in a full queen box and a foam filler block was used to make up the difference. I tried cutting this with a serrated bread knife - very easily.

Others have suggested an electric carving knife.
